Question about Compaq Evo N610C Notebook
Hi, My evo Compaq laptop fell and the little pin in the power source got bent. Its not charging. What can I do?
It sounds like the AC adapter connector on the system board is damaged. You need to determine the condition of the connector and its solder connections. The best way to determine this is by completely disassembling the laptop. Disassembling the Compaq Evo N610c is not as bad as some other laptops. You need to visually inspect the AC adapter connector. You may be lucky and just need to bend the pin an resolder the connections. If the connector is cracked it will need replacing and thats a problem. Finding spare parts is a real issue here. Find yourself another defective Evo N610c with a good AC adapter connector and swap the parts.

Unfortunately on most Compaq/HP mobile devices the AC pin is soldered directly onto the motherboard. If the pin is severely bent of broken off then a service is required, usually to replace the motherboard. Having the broken off like then can actually create a minor crack in the PCB. Sorry for the bad news.

If the pin is not completely remove...try to slowly straighten it if you can...please do this with caution if the pin is remove then you'll be having a big problem.
