Viewsonic 38r -03 pda

Hi there,
I hope you can help. I bought a viewsonic 38r-03 from the states and had it shipped to the UK as it was half the price of buying it here. I tired to connect it to my dell lap top which is running windows xp with service pack 2. The viewsonic is running windows mobile 2003 second edition. version 4.21.1088. When I connect using the usb connector a little bubble appears in the bottom righgt saying new hardware and give the correct description and then goes on the request the cd for the hardware. I have one companion cd which has activesync on it (which i have installed already and updated). when i load the cd it says it cannot find the required files. This leads me to my next problem as the activesync does not show any connection. I have used pocketmac on my mac to connect it and it works fine but i need connection on my dell as my job requires certain software which is only compatible with ms and outlook 2002 or up.
