Home swtch not working 3g

iOS or jail broken? You need to determine if it is a software or hardware problem.

Connect your phone to iTunes and backup and do a restore to factory settings. If the button still doesn't work you could follow directions found online for opening your phone, but unless you know what you are doing I wouldn't recommend it. The odds that you could see something physically wrong and repair it are low.

If resetting the software doesn't fix it, you could send it to Apple to repair, but if it's a 3G you should consider not spending the money on the older model and instead put it toward a new phone.

My i phone wont turn on i try to restarted now it wont turn on i try to hold the home button and the power button a pineapple apears and it just stays like thet

This may not fix it if you "jail broke"it:::

Download the latest iTunes to your computer and reset the iPhone. Then re-sync it.

Reset

To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds. During this time, a red "power off" slider may appear and the screen may go black, but do not release Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears.

If iPhone won't turn on, or the display freezes or doesn't respond

  1. Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you were using quits.
  2. If that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a 10 seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
  3. If that doesn't work, reset iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

More resets:

Try This:
1. Remove Sim Card
2. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until Apple logo appears
3. Replace Sim Card
4. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until normal phone screen appears.

Also, Try this:
1.) Shut down the iPhone 3G.
2.) Start up iTunes
3.) Hold down HOME button on the iPhone 3G
4.) While keeping the HOME button depressed, plug in the Sync cable
5.) A message will pop up to ask if you want to reset.
6.) Just click YES and the reset process should start.

Unlocked iphone

Just to give you a run down. When they said it was jail breaked or jail broken this means they ( the place you got it from ) have voided the warranty of the phone and broken the terms and conditions of the contract with apple and have unlocked it to any cellular network ie before you tried to upgrade it on itunes it would of worked with any network ie T Mobile etc

Because it was jail broken by the person at the store you got it from and you tried to update it over itunes , itunes and the firmware update detected this and has consequently locked the iphone so you cant do anything with it unless you apply the latest jail break to it or you go back to the shop and get a refund and buy from somewhere reputable ie an apple store or a cell phone place that is big.

I would suggest getting a refund and getting a normal one as jail breaked phones will always have the issue where everytime itunes releases an update it will re lock it if you try to update it through itunes which is a pain and the amount of stuff you have to do to re apply or get it re unlocked is a nightmare.

Easier to get one that is not unlocked and that way you can upgrade it with piece of mind and know it will update with out any issues.
