This is usually caused by a blockage in the filter inside the carby also if the diaphrams are hard they will also need replacement.

Will not prime with primer bulb , can squirt gas in carb and get running then while running you push the primer button it chokes down the engine .

Does it stay running after you squirt fuel in the carb opening? If yes, then there may be a pin hole leak in the hose going from the fuel tank to the primer bulb and it is adding air to your carb.
Thanks

Replaced te fuel lines. no sure Ihavethe lines connected properly

Not sure if your primer bulb is on the carb or separate but here are some basics... The smaller line is the main fuel line. It has the fuel filter on it and the filter should be laying on the bottom of the tank. That line goes to the fuel pump side of the carb ( usually the inlet near the center of the carb body ). The fuel goes through the filter up the main line and fills the carb then to the primer bulb whether its on the carb or separate. If on the carb the spigot closest to the primer bulb takes the larger line and returns to the tank. That line should go into the tank about half an inch and terminate. If the primer is separate the larger line leave the carb from the spigot on the metering side ( usually close to the edge of the carb body) to the inlet of the primer bulb then from the primer bulb out ( usually center of the bulb) to the tank and terminates about half an inch inside the tank. Remember... fuel filter into carb, carb to primer bulb, primer bulb to tank. If the fuel does not go that direction when the bulb is primed then you have lines hooked up backwards.

Primer bulb does not work

if you have gas in the primer bulb its working. gas is sucked from tank to carb , out return tube to primer bulb and back to the tank from the primer bulb. most likely dirt in carb or hard diaphram not opening needle valve allowing fuel to be sent. carb kits are around 12 bucks . but carbs for troybilts are usually only 20 bucks. I would just replace the whole carb if the case. if the bulb stayed empty I would look for broken fuel line in the tank that holds the fuel filter. they rot and break off within a year or two.

Replaced all lines (2) plus bulb and still can't prime blower.. if I put gas in spark plug hole runs fine.. even tried leaving off the filter in tank. thanks

I am under the assumption the primer bulb is atop the carburetor. There are check valves under the bulb in the primer base assembly of these carbs. Sometimes, the valves stick and sometimes they go bad completely. There are very small and for all practical purposes unserviceable, however...you can try this...pull the fuel lines off of the carb and spray WD-40 into the brass inlet and outlet. Remove the primer bulb again and liberally spray some WD onto the top of the primer base assembly...this being done in hopes of freeing up a sticky check valve. If you have extra or old fuel lines, hook them to the carb...inject WD-40 and work the bulb to attempt to move the lubricant back and forth out of the carb. Sometimes this works, sometimes not..if valves are bad. There are replaceable parts and kits for the primer base available on the manufacturers websites. The primer bulb does not have to be completely full of fuel to allow the engine to run, but the base assembly can cause problems in fuel flow to and from the carb and even mimic a flooding condition. Don't use carb cleaner and dont soak the carb in any,. Try this and post back if needed.
Please vote on this solution.

Fuel dont get in carbruator put gas in the carb thru the choke it starts but dies .i put a new gasline in it and a new carb kit Why dose pressure build in the fuel tank i removed the fuel line and gas...

When you prime/puge your carburetor, make sure fuel (w/ no air) is moving from the fuel tank towards the body of the carb. Also, make sure that there is fuel/air bubbles leaving the primer bulb and going back towards the fuel tank...and that when you push the bulb down and release it, there is no fuel movement in either line. If fuel does move when letting up on the bulb, you either have the fuel lines reversed or, the check valves in the primer base assembly are not functioning. The primer/puge valve's funcion is to draw fresh fuel into the fuel pump side of the carb and to push old fuel/air from the metering chamber side of the carb back to the fuel tank. Here is proper fuel routing:
This is an ongoing issue for users, and rightfully so. Small diameter line out of fuel tank (has filter in-tank on end) connects to the side of the carburetor that has the fuel pump....that is the cover without the hole in it. Other larger diameter fuel line out of tank connects to the longer nipple on the external purge/primer bulb. The bulb "pulls" fresh fuel from the fuel tank to the carb and then out of the carb to itself, where it then pushes any air/old fuel back into the fuel tank. The remaining larger diameter fuel line in this setup goes from the metering chamber (has cover with writing on it and a vent-hole) side of the carburetor to the smaller nipple on the purge/primer bulb. Years ago on 2-stroke trimmers, primers were not even used,...you choked the carb with a slide lever and gravity let fuel enter the carb from above...a few pulls, a "pop"...slide it off of choke and away you went.
If the purge/primer bulb is on top of the carb...small line from carb body to small hole in tank with filter. Larger diameter line goes from the bulb on the fuel pump side of the carb to the larger hole in the fuel tank where the line is held in place with a nylon nipple connector that keeps the line from pulling out of the tank.

A relative has a weed eater featherlite 20c and thr primer bulb doesnt keep gas in it,is it supposed to?and if so what is the cause? And it want stay running unless u keep it running wide open. Why is that?

The machine is having a fuel delivery issue The purge/primer bulb PULLS fuel from the fuel tank, thru the carb and then to itself it pull any air/old fuel in the carb...and the PUSHES this mixture back to the fuel tank. There are check valves in carbs that have the bulb on them..Deteriorated fuel lines clog a screen in the carb and the ethanol in the gas works to deteriorate the fuel pump and metering diaghram in these carbs...You have to start at the tank with the fuel filter and go from there.
I'd say from the running symptons that a diaghram kit is needed for the carb...they are cheap and easily installed.

Will not start. Primer bulb does stays pushed in.

that happens frequently on older equipment ... the alcohol in modern gas can damage the fuel lines and primer bulbs if used in tools not designed for it .. even replacing the damaged parts doesnt help .. since the replacement parts are often made of the same stuff as the original .. you have to make sure the parts can handle alcohol ... i dont take anyones word for it .. i soak them for a few days .. if they swell up or turn white .. then those are not compatable .. if you cant find alcohol resistant parts then you can still get gas that doesnt have any if you ask around .. ... if your tool is a more recent vintage then it should already be compatable .. maybe you have a clogged passageway in the carb or the primer bulb my just be aged .. if you cant get the primer bulb to work then you can try spraying a little starting fluid on the air intake (air filter) .. that should get you started to see if anything else is wrong .. if the primer bulb is damaged then chances are the plastic fuel line is also .. primer bulbs and other parts are usually available from the manufacturer and from parts supply stores ..

The primer bulb does not draw fuel thru carb

you need to buy a primer bulb kit and replace it cost about $8.00 and is easy to put in, the check valve is damaged.

Gasline mixup

one line comes directly from the fuel tank (the one with the filter) to the inlet side of the of the carbruetor ( the bottom fitting on the carb.usually)
the other line coming out of the fuel tank is the return fuel line and it hooks up to the outlet side of the two fittings on the primer bulb
the other side of the primer bulb goes to the only fitting left to hook to at the carbruetor.

you have 2 different length fittings on the primer bulb itself
the longer fitting is your return line hook it up to your tank side and the short one goes to carb.fitting
when you get it hooked up press the bulb several times and see if it primes as it should(fuel moving thru lines) from tank thru carb. thru primer back to tank

Primer bulb on weedeater won't prime

when you prime the bulb it sucks gas from the tank with the small tube, any excess gassed pumped will be fed back to the carb via the big tube leading to the tank. If you prime it and the bulb stays pushed down, then you have a clog or kink. To fix , pull the small tube out of the tank through the fill hole. Pull off the filter on the end and put the tube back in the tank. If it primes, your fuel filter was clogged. If it still wont prime check the hose going to the carb and make sure isnt clogged or kinked.(take of carb and blow in it). If that doesnt fix it take off the bulb from the carb with two screws. The bulb assembly will come off too(rectange metal thing) Take off the two black gaskets, be carefull with them. Take off hoses from carb and bulb asembly. Blow carb cleaner in all holes and over surface. Put back together.
If the carb wont prime and the bulb isnt staying depressed. then you might have a bad bulb or carb gaskets. Make sure hoses are not cracked, cloged, or pinched.
