My brightness is very low. I can't see anything

My brightness is very low. I can't see anything . I'm running windows Vista. Yeterday I had a crash so I shut down and restarted my machine. Everything was working fine. Then I hibernated my system. When I tried to come out of hibernation, I can hardly see the screen.
Tried shutting down, removing the batter and then reinstalling and restarting my system with no luck.
I tried pressing FN and F7 to increase brightness with no success.

This could be a faulty CCFL lamp.
To determine if you have a LCD screen, inverter or video card problem, read this and follow these instructions.
Defective CCFL backlight, it may have the following symptom: Screen flashs on red/pink and off. Picture stays on in red and slowly be come normal. Picture flickering with dim display or appear black. Picture flickering on and off. All these symptoms indicate that the LCD backlight lamp (CCFL Lamp) has reached the end of the life and all you need to do is replacing the CCFL lamp.
Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power the monitor up first then the laptop, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight. Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Print spooler crashes on Vista business

How do you connect the printer? Try to do it manually. Instead of searching for the printer on the network, give the path manually.
For ex.: \\name_of_the_server\name_of_the_shared_printer.

Windows problem

I would say the easiest thing to do with legacy programs is to run a virtualized version of an older windows OS within Vista.

Visit VMWare Server to download their free product that can run in Vista. You can then "find" a windows 98 cd-rom image to install with. It is fairly easy, but there will be a little work getting Win98 running.

This is probably the best way since you don't have to worry about compatibility with Vista, and also if the legacy app crashes it only crashes your VM and not your whole system.

If you would like some more in-depth discussion about virtualization, just email me.

No Icons on Windows Vista

Sound like your explorer.exe process is crashing. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del and select Task Manager. Press the button to view processes from all users, and look for "explorer.exe". If it's there, select it and hit End Task and then move on to the next step. If it isn't then just do this: select File->New Task, and type in "explorer" without quotes in the new window that pops up. When you hit OK it should load up. If explorer appears in the Task Manager for a moment and then disappears then something is consistently causing it to crash. You will then need to boot from the install DVD and perform a repair. Once you can get back into Windows then immediately do a virus scan and a spyware scan. I recommend Avast Anti-Virus and Hitman Pro.

Is quick books 2003 Vista compatabile?

QuickBooks Pro 2003 can run on Windows Vista. Right-click a shortcut to open Quickbooks (or qbw32.exe directly) and click on Properties. Select the Compatibility tab. Under Compatibility Mode, check the box and select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the list. Under privilege level, select "Run this program as an administrator." Select OK and everything will work.
