I don't get any sound from the right satellite port on my sub. I've tried both speakers on the left port, and they work fine, so its not the speakers.

Problems with JBL PSW D110

The speaker level input option is designed for receivers that don't have digital output for the sub, used this way when you set to digital the speaker outputs only get the higher range outputs so won't reproduce much bass. To get the sub to work in digital mode you need to use the digital output (single RCA) from the amp to the sub

I have a Fisher RS-909 Surrond Sound amplifier. It has no "sub out" jack. I had the sub-woofer working in the past by wiring it as shown in the manual. The problem is that the system was in...

Alright i had a chance to look over things, this is how you are going to hook up the sub. first we'll be connecting the surround sound unit to the sub woofer.
surround sound unit sub woofer
left front: positive (+) <-----to------------->(+) left speaker level in
negative ( - )<- - -to- - - - - - ->( - ) left speaker level in

right front: positive (+) <-----to------------->(+) right speaker level in
negative ( - )<- - -to- - - - - - >( - ) right speaker level in

now that the surround sound unit is connected to the sub woofer you will need to connect the front surround sound speakers to the sub woofer.
sub woofer front surround sound speaker
left speaker level out (+)<-----to--------> (+) left front speaker
left speaker level out( - ) <- - - to- - - - ->( - ) left front speaker

right speaker level out (+)<-----to--------> (+) right front speaker
right speaker level out( - ) <- - - to- - - ->( - ) right front speaker

Alright now that the wires are all over the place and plugged in
turn everything on and see how it sounds. let me know if everything is working as it should. if you need help with anything else or if something does not seem right please feel free to contact me via e-mail or phone

How conect one subwofeer 12

The sub woofer can be connected by bridging one side of the right channel to the other side of the left channel. Usually this will be marked on the speaker connection terminal and use will not have any trouble to locate. If not use the + ve of the right and the - ve of the left to connect to the sub woofer. turn it on and check . If you find the phase different- with less bass- reverse the connection and try. this will work fine. Good day

Cerwin Vega SUB8...how do I connect

grady66,
We will start with the easy one, Phase. The phase selector is a setting that can be adjusted by sound; which one sounds better? Either one will work fine. It's mainly for situations where the sub enclosure is located at a distance or behind the listening area. The 'in and out' crossover selector and the input from the receiver goes together. The 'in and out' crossover selector is asking if you want to use the internal crossover to block the bass from getting to the satellite speakers. Most home surround sound receivers only have the one sub out and most subs have both left and right inputs. When there is a single signal being fed to the sub you use the subs left input or buy a splitter and send the signal into both left and right, but either way will work equally the same.

There is two ways to connect the speakers to the receiver.

1) Cross-over 'In': you connect the output speaker wires from the receiver to the speaker inputs on the sub and the speaker outputs on the sub to the satellite speakers; the sub will get its sound from the input speaker wires.

2) Cross-over 'Out': you connect the sub to the receiver using the receiver's single sub out, then connect the satellite speakers directly to the receiver's speakers outputs; in this configuration the satellite speakers are given a full range of signal including the bass.

I have used #2 with the same system and had great results.

No sound coming out of speakers on my cerwin vega

spurdoggg,
It will be easy to pin point the problem. If your satellite speakers have been connect through the sub's in and output speaker connectors, disconnect them and connect them directly to the source of sound. If the speakers work its the crossover inside the sub enclosure. If the speakers do not work the speakers are blown.

Little sound out of left satellite in Logitech S200 2.1-system.

Try plugging in some headphones to the right satellite, unplugging them and turning the speakers off and on. This worked for me, and is probably the switch getting stuck between headphones & normal speakers.

Buzzing sound from woofer when I plug in

If the woofer works fine when plugged into any other port, I would say that you have a connector on the receiver that has a loose connection or possibly a cold solder joint (poor or broken solder joint). RCA jacks can be stressed quite a lot especially if you use cables that have very tight connectors. The female RCA jack gets wiggled or twisted when trying to remove a cable and this causes solder joints to crack. I would have a look at that connector on the receiver..

How do i hook up Altec Lansing AVS500 speakers to my computer

Hello sweetnikki1,

The Altec Lansing AVS500 are 4.1 channel speakers, meaning 4 speakers (front, rear and 2 satellites) and a subwoofer.

1. Make sure the rear and/or center/sub audio cable is plugged in to the correct port. On most surround sound cards, the rear audio port is black, the front audio port is green, and the satellite cords are similarly color coded. The output from the sub to the front right satellite is a heavy-duty cable that immediately stands out from the rest. This cable is thicker because the right front speaker has most of the system controls on it: power, volume, and surround volume. If you do not have a surround sound card, make sure you obtain the proper adapter or use surround sound emulation if your speaker system offers it. If you are not sure if you have a surround sound card, please check with the manufacturer of your sound card for details.

2. Make sure your sound card supports the same amount of channels as your speaker system contains. For 4.1 systems, it should have a front and rear speaker jack on the card. The card should be properly installed and configured. Please contact your sound card manufacturer for details. If you do not have a surround sound capable sound card, on the left side are the sub level control, the AC jack, satellite outs, and a sound mode switch. With this switch you decide between Gaming and Stereo. In Stereo mode, the normal stereo signal is sent to both the fronts and the rears. In Gaming mode, the speakers use the four-channel signal from your soundcard. Hence if you just hav the regular sound card, do not connect the satellite speakers and use Stereo mode.

3. You can also use an adapter to split the signal for the front and rear speakers. This type of adapter is a 3.5mm male to 2-3.5mm female jacks. You can purchase this adapter at your local electronic store. Please refer to your manual if you do not know if your speaker system can emulate surround sound.

Hope this helps..
