If you mean you no longer see anything on the screen. Try hitting the picture taking button slightly and the rear view screen should come on again. This is a energy saving setting and can be changed in the menu setup.

Lens is stuck with the barrel out. I hit power button and the light only turns orange then shuts off. If I hit playback button...says busy and shuts off.

I can't tell from your description what type of camera you are using, but it sounds like the battery is dead or dying.
It takes a lot of batter juice to open and shut the lens, and to power the LCD screen to view photos.
I hope this helps!

LCD screen black when photo being taken

Hi!
Have you tried pushing the button first under the mode dial? It changes view mode, just above the MENU button?

Camera turns on then shuts down

hi...ensure  that the camera is turned on. If applicable, ensure the lens cover has been removed before taking pictures. the LCD backlight is turned on by pressing the DISPLAY button several times until the screen appears.  Depending on the camera model, the DISPLAY button may be labeled as DISP or with a display icon. This button could be a standalone button or it depends upon the camera model.....
If operating the camera with a battery, ensure the battery is fully charged.
Ensure the battery is inserted properly in the camera.
If operating the camera with the power adapter, ensure it is plugged into a working AC outlet.
Ensure no Audio/Video (A/V) cables are connected for viewing pictures on a TV; the LCD screen will not display when an A/V cable is connected.
Perform a reset procedure on the camera....

thank u rate me!!!!

Cannon G7 need help

Hi
Had the same problem a few months ago. There was a high pitchedwhisltle and I think the screen said "lens fault.turn off camera" or something similar.Bought a G9 to replace as the 7 was out of guarantee but sent the 9 back to the e-bay reseller as it was obviously secondhand with grit around the lens ring and the viewfinder.Ebay never again!.So 3 months ago ago I tried the G7 again with a fresh charged battery before I consigned the camera to the loft.I noticed that each time i switched on the whistle and message was there but the lens extended slightly further each timeso I kept rebooting until the lens was fully extended.Turned the camera off and on again and everything was back to normal. It seems that this may be Canons protocol when a camera goes back. Its been absolutely fine until today. It wont boot up at all.I have tried 2 fresh charged batteries and its dead.Any ideas anyone?

DSC W80 Black Display and Black Photos

I talked to sony assistance and they said nothing really helpful. They told me to try:

- Putting everything default again
- Taking out battery and holding down the power button for 30sec and putting back the battery,

None of these worked.

Shuts right off - now lens won't go in

I was having the same problem and tried several set of new batteries. Finally I purchased a set of high performance lithium batteries and the camera works on them. Before trying to get repairs or buying a new camera try spending $15 on the best batteries you can find.
