Make sure the device is listed in the device manager, to get to the device manager right click my computer-properties-hardware tab-device manager. If it is not listed, you need to install a driver. Look up your modem model number on the internet for a driver.

Where to connect router on modem

Your modem should have an rj45 ethernet port. Connect your router with an ethernet cable to the modem. You will need to configure your modem and router to work properly. Once everything is configured, you will be able to share your internet connection through your router to all attached devices. For more information, please provide your exact make and model numbers for your router and modem and always remember, Google is a great source for information. Hope this helps.

*If you want to connect wirelessly, make sure you know the Network Name and the Network Key of the Router or the modem. the only problem is the settings coz other computers can connect

*You can also check if the wireless adapter is properly installed and working properly

* Make sure that the wireless switch is on

*If everything is checked Click on start - Connect To - look for the network name - enter the network key :)

The ZTE modem when initially connected to any system loads as a storage device which contains the software necessary to install the modem. Connect the ZTE and open it in Explorer. Double click the setup file (.exe) to start installation. Follow instructions and allow installation to complete. The modem is automatically installed during this setup. Once completed restart and then your ZTE functions as a modem.

I have s dell studio 15 laptop. i got a dell conexant rd02-d400 modem so i could use dial up with it. now i get errors that say it can't connect, but that everything os ok.. error 692 and 618 (i think)...

hello,

Connect your modem to the phone line and test the modem.

Control Panel-->>Phones and Modems. Click icon. Tab Modem. Highlight your modem, and Click Properties--->>Diagnostics. Verify that everything is OK.

Then Start --->>All Programs -->>Accessories-->> Comunications ---Hyperterminal.

Enter a name for a bogus connection, Click OK
Enter your phone number and dial it. If Phone/Modem connection is OK, you shoul hear the busy signal.
Alternative:Run the Dell diagnostics.

If Modem connection is correct you must then create a dialup connection.
Hope it helps.

Modem removed and unavailable device com1

First of all uninstall and unpluged your modem then reinstall your modem without attach it. After installing you should attach it or plug it and if required during installation you should plug it during installation.
Now create connection and run it. It will work properly.

Trying to connect to dialup with acer laptop notebook

Right click My Computer icon and then My Properties. Click on the Devices tab and check hhe list for Modems. See if your modem appears and if is correctly installed (an exclamation point beside iyour modem, means there is an instalation error).

If everything is OK, you still have to setup the dialup connection:enter the phone number to connect , the username and password, supplied by your ISP provider.

Resuming verizon dsl usb internet connection

If you reformatted your Windows on your pc, there's no need to change the settings of your network connections. The Westell 6100 can either be connected to your pc using the Ethernet port or the USB port if you're using the combo cable or Y-cable. It's more stable to use the Ethernet port for your Lan connection. For the USB, to reinstall the USB connection properly, you'll need the Verizon Installation CD. Make sure the USB is not connected to your PC first before you install it. You just need to follow the CD because it will tell you when to hook up the USB cable to the pc. If you still have the CD, after it runs, you have to select existing customer and then select connect new modem. After that you just to have follow the steps to install the USB connection properly and then your modem will work fine afterwards. If the problem still persists, you can try replacing the cable. If all else fails, it could be a modem problem already. You also need to check your Network Interface Card of NIC as we call it, it's built in your pc. it's the device that allows your pc to communicate with the modem. Normally after reinstalling windows, the NIC is forgotten, make sure you also install the drivers and utilities Cd for your windows.

I've just bought a SMC7904WBRA-N Wireless router with a SMCWUSBS-N2 Wireless adaptor. It's probably obvious to you but... I want my pc to have a wirelss connection but can I install the adaptor first...

Best results would be to install everything from a HARD wire connection. Wireless, can drop bits of data depending on interference. I would definately use the ethernet to install everything and then try the wireless.

Acer 56 kbps v.92 modem...i cant install modem

Hello there, sounds to me like a softwere problem. Try downloading the drivers again from the website of the make of the modem. Install them again - if you're getting the same message after, Download anti-virus FREE AVG you can find this at this link for windows: http://free3.grisoft.cz/softw/70free/setup/avg75free_446a965.exe Install this run it on a test see what it says and you may find your problem. if not then you could do a deep clean and fully re-install windows xp - REMEMBER TO BACK-UP ANY FILES YOU WANT TO KEEP BEFORE DOING SO. in the meantime good luck Raverbaby keepin it hardcore!!!!! = (htid) hardcore till i die !
