see this possible causes: Power from the house test the c. breaker for tripped or blown fuse Door switch test the switch for open and replace Thermal fuse tes the fuse for open and replace Wiring test the wires, for open, broken, loose or burn and repair God bless you
Power to the dryer is 220 volts, with half of the total voltage supplied by each of two breakers. The breakers are combined into one larger breaker, but each side of the breaker connects to a different buss bar in the breaker box. What it sounds like is that one half of your breaker is tripped, and the remedy is to trip the double breaker in order to reset the half that is tripped. If tripping the breaker off and back on does not restore the operation of the dryer, trip the breaker back off, unplug the dryer, and check for any burned wires at the terminal strip where the cord connects to the dryer. Replace any defective or burned parts. Best regards, --W/D--
I presume that you mean that your breaker is tripping.... The first step is to replace the breaker and USE THE SAME SIZE, exactly, or you will become a fire hazard. Breakers eventually start tripping EASIER, rather than less often, which is a safety matter.
IF replacement does not resolve the issue, you need an electrician to investigate what the next step is.
An amp reading will indicate if the dryer is loading higher than it should...
sounds like the motor bearings are beginning to seize up from heat/age or the combination of both, remove the front and top cover to remove the drum if there is no access in the rear to remove the belt off the motor so you can start the dryer or free wheel the motor by hand and see if it is beginning to turn hard
Hi, make sure the breakers haven't tripped, and the motor may have tripped on internal over load. If this happened, let it set and cool down for awhile to see if it will start. Also, check the small door switch to make sure a screw didn't come loose as the will cause it to do nothing. Please keep me posted and safety first. Sincerely, Shastalaker7
In order to trip a circuit breaker, there is almost for sure, a dead short to ground. Takes quite a bit to trip a breaker. The smell is most likely something electrical burning. Stop resetting the breaker and have it checked out. Continous resetting and tripping can cause more damage. The breaker is doing it's job.
Open the dryer door (right
after the breaker trips) and check for a burned smell. If it smells in
the dryer, you probably have a direct short in the dryer wiring. Check for a burn smell at the wall socket. There may be a short in the socket itself, but not likely unless a mouse is lying across the contacts in the wall. If everything checks ok replace the circuit breaker if this is an older home. Circuit breakers weaken after years of use. A 30 amp circuit breaker will trip at a much lower amperage after a period of years especially if it has tripped often.
