7020 not recognized by installation software

We have three computers that are connected to the same router making a 'network.' The 7020 is attached by usb to one of the computers. One of the other two computers can print to it. I am trying to install the software on another computer and it will not recognize the printer. Firewalls are all off.

Hello,

Have all computers on your network up and runnning, you printer connected to the main computer, and turned on too. On the computer that cannot print, create a new network printer and ask the computer to look for the printer in the network. When you are asked for the type of port choose a Brother port and go through the whole process.

Hope it helps.

Better still, your printer can be connected to your router if it is network enabled.

You cannot just add network printer on Windows XP without the printer software. You can only install it on Windows 7 with no software.

You need to get the canon MX870 software and run it on the computer you want to print files from. 'Before you do it, make you have already setup the printer to connect to your router and also make sure that it is connected to your router before you run the software.

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/office_all_in_one_inkjet_printers/pixma_mx870#DriversAndSoftware

Select Windows XP (NOT WINDOWS XP 64) then download and install the first file "mp68-win-mx870-1_04-ea24.exe" Run it and it will show you options. Choose setup wireless there you go! Make sure you are connected to the-same router the printer is connected to.

Please rate 4 stars if this solved your problem. Thanks

Use of HPJ4680 in a network with Mac & PC connected to router

Ok what you do is, install the printer as a LOCAL one on one of the PC's, Probably the XP, one, would be best. or perhaps the PC; actually "Connected" to the D-link router & Modem, then Now install this printer , as a LOCAL, printer, and set as DEFAULT, enable Printer Sharing. Now, ALL PC's MUST, have a Name, Belong to the same Workgroup, have a Password. On the "Other" PC's Install the Printer as a Network Printer, browse for it and connect. Print a test page from each. Remember the PC with the printer attached, must obviously be ON or the "Others" cannot connect and print.. Make sure all network permissions are set sharing is set, especially on the Win 7. Just make sure they can all "See" each other first, before try all this.. the network MUST be intact and communicatable from each PC to at least the PC with the printer attached. We have an Offline message when attempting to print. We have unplugged the printer, unplugged the router, modem and shut down the computers and then restarted all. We still have the problem.

Usually these messages are from communication issues between the computer and the printer. I have to go to the printers support/driver site and download the latest and greatest drivers for that printer that matches the operating system. I then uninstall the printer and get rid of all software and drivers for it. Make sure the printer is unplugged and off. Install the new drivers. If this printer is connected to a router and all computers in the home access it through the network, then it can be reinstalled simply by powering it up, attaching it to the router with an ethernet cable, opening up the control pane > click on printers > click on add printer > choose network printer > windows will search the network and find the printer and display it. Highlight the printer when it displays and click ok. Windows will install and initiate the printer and ask you if it is to be the default printer and will ask if you want it to print a test page.

If this printer is connected to the computer via usb cable, once the drivers are installed, attach the cable to the printer and start it up, windows will recognize the hardware and automatically load the drivers you installed. It may want to search windows update for an updated driver, click ok and let windows set the printer up....that includes all communication protocols.

Hp c5200 with 2 XP computers (Dell/EMachine), equipment needed to network printer? shapner123@att.net

hi
5200 series are both wired and wireless network ready printers
so i will tell you the steps to configure it wireless on the computer

for that you should have a wireless router and the computers should be connected to the router
now follow the following instruction to configure the printer

Connecting the unit to the computer

Press the Setup button on the all-in-one.
Press the arrow buttons until Network displays and then press OK . The Network menu displays.
Press the arrow buttons until Wireless Setup Wizard displays and then press OK .
Follow the instructions in the Wireless Setup Wizard.
it will ask for the router password you should know the router password to connect
After the all-in-one connects to the network, install the product software on the computer.

insert the software cd and install it using network wired/wireless
and complete the installation and similarly install on the other computer as well

and if you face any problem do let us know

look out for the driver of the wireless card. check the system configuration were you have all installed hardwares and see if you can find thr card there. if it is not there, then you may have to get the driver cd and re install it. other wise uninstall the driver and re install it again. but first, go to network connections and see if it is there or if it has been disabled. if it is disabled, enable it and you will be fine

If the printer itself is wireless, it does not need to recognize your wireless computer network. Call Lexmark to walk you through proper installation. Lexmark's manuals are not adequate regarding setup, in my opinion.

Unable to install Netgear wireless router

This does not seem to be a problem with your router, rather with the network adapter in your laptop.
  1. Go to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Hardware -> Device Manager -> Network adapters.
  2. Click the "+" sign to make it "-".
  3. What is listed? DO you see your wireless network adapter? If you see a yellow "!" or a red "x", that means it is not properly installed. Try to reinstall the driver.
If you need help with that, let me know. In that case I would need to know make and model of your computer.

Also: you don't have to install any software to connect to your router. This software is simply a help to setup the router. You can always type "www.routerlogin.com" in the address bar of your web browser and manage your router from there.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.
