Question about Kenmore Grilling

Uneven cooking surface

I have a 5 burner grill and the far 2 left burners burn my food, while the far 2 right burners dont even cook at all. What do I do to fix this? Right side reads around 600 degrees, left side reads around 400 degrees.

I had a similar problem. I took off the burner heat deflectors and seen gaping holes in the burner tubes. Get your model number and serial number and call Weber. Most Ducane grills have a 5 year warranty on the burner tubes. They will ship them free if under warranty!

Well, I personally, wouldn't want to go from a 3-burner to a 2-burner because I think Weber designed the 3-burner grill to perfection, and as you know, all you have to do is turn off the middle burner.

At any rate, indirect is harder with the two-burner because of the placement of the burners. You can try to put some 1" thick ceramic bricks directly on the flavorizer bars in the middle, or if you are using a rotisserie, put a pan under your meat.

How do we fix a gas grill that doesn't cook evenly


Usually if you're have hot and cold spots, it's the burners that need to be removed and thoroughly cleaned. In addition, cleaning the venturi valves while the burners are out, is equally important. The Venturi valves are part of each burner. You will see them near the open end of the burner (looks like 2 slots cut into each side of the burner) where it fits over the burner orifice. While the burners are out, closely inspect each one for corrosion or rust thru. If you find severe corrosion or rust thru, the burner(s) should be replaced.

Sputtering grill


I have a TEC Pattio II. I have owned the grill for almost 10 years and TEC grills have a ten year warranty on many of the parts including the burners. The burners on my grill have a ceramic inserts. The pop and loud whooshing noises indicate the ceramic insert or the seal on the burner is "cracked". I have replaced both of the inserts and burners on my grill once about 5 years ago under warranty. I have one burner now that will not stay burning and I contacted TEC today regarding the problem, and I will replace the ceramic insert only under warranty. .

The newest TEC grills like yours have the TEC Radiant Glass Infra-red Cooking System with stainless steel burners with glass surfaces. I assumed this burner system had eliminated the problem of the burners going out with a loud boom or sputtering.

Burner on range will not turn off


Look at the back of your range there should be schemetic for your power control board. look for defective burner wire going into relay. There should be 5 relays in rows. Realy is the problem. I had the same problem with my front left burner stuck on high.
After replacing everything works okay.
