Same problem... my XP2 SP3 system won't recognize the MS 3 button optical mouse with intellieye.

I have a "Microsoft 3-button Mouse with IntelliEye(TM)" and in some cases when I pick a button in a diologe box it will not select. When I hover over the button it tells me what the button will do but it will not select the button when I pick it with the mouse. This happens when I'm in Pro E /Windchill on Windows 7. Any Suggestions?

This my could be a couple of thing.

1) If you are useing the same recever for both mice (new and old) it could be that.

2)it could be a driver issue witch sounds like the most probable.

You can download the software for this mouse at Microsoft's site for this mouse. Just select your version of Windows 7 (32 or 64-bit) and your language and it will download. Install that and see if that button does what you want. If not there is usually a configuration utility on the start menu or in the control panel that will let you customize it all the buttons to an insane degree.

Side note: if you're not sure if you're using 32 or 64-bit Windows go to start then right-click computer and select properties. On the window that comes up there is a line that says System type: which says which you have.

Changed batters in mouse. Now doesn't work. No

1.Make sure that you have inserted both the required batteries (New batteries) into the wireless pointing device and that they are positioned in the correct direction.
2. Resync the mouse.
3.If you do not have the resync button follow the next step
4.Test the device on a different computer
If the issue continues to occur, test the mouse on a different computer in a different environment. If you can replicate the problem in a different environment, you may have a defective device. If this is the case, see the "More Information" section for information about how to contact Microsoft Supplemental Parts to obtain a replacement device.
5.Test the mouse by using the Mousinfo diagnostic tool
The Mousinfo diagnostic tool is installed together with the IntelliPoint software. If you do not have this software, you cannot open the tool.

To install the IntelliPoint software, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

3. In the Open box, type mousinfo.

If this is the case, see the "More Information" section for information about how to contact Microsoft Supplemental Parts to obtain a replacement device. However, the best way to determine whether the device is defective or damaged is to try the device on a different computer.
7.Uninstall any conflicting mouse software

Wireless Mouse on a laptop with built inTouchpad on the keyboard

No need to disable the touchpad they should both work at the same time. Have you tried both the mice on another PC?. The first mouse should have the correct software already installed but you will most probably need to install software for the microsoft mouse. I hope you have tried resetting by hitting the button on the receiver then while its flashing the button on bottom of the mouse? If all this fails do have any other USB devices you can test on laptop?......good luck

PS I hope its not the batteries

Microsoft wireless mouse 3000 - all lights are on; flash upon reset, but still doesn't work. Running Vista 64-bit.

Try to take off battery and next push and hold down the small button that protrudes where the receiver is placed in the mouse, put back battery and simultaneusly release the button,it might make the mouse operate correctly. Good luck!!!! Chawah.

Toshiba A135-S4527 will not automatically shut down

If you truly believe the problem happened right after installing the new mouse, then you should start by uninstalling the software for it. Go to Control Panel -> Software -> Uninstall. If this fails, you can use the System Restore utility to rollback the Windows registry to a time before you first installed the new mouse software. Have you tried to unplug the mouse and not use it, atleast on the attempted shutdown process?

PC will not stay in sleep mode.

Hi,
it's not a hardware-problem - it's a windows feature smile_wink.gif - (and it really is one !) - please try this:
To prevent a USB mouse from waking your PC

1. Open Device Manager by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager.

2. In the list of device categories, expand Mice and other pointing devices.

3. Right-click the entry for the USB mouse, and then click Properties.

4. On the Power Management tab, clear the Allow this device to wake the computer check box.

5. Click OK.
Don't forget to do this with your mouse + keyboard !
