Take it back to the dealer you bought it from. But you can try changing the needle, make sure the bobbins thread is unwinding the right way, what thread are using, cotton, polyester, etc. Try changing material, needle, does it do it on Streight stitch and zigzag. Let me know about these questions.

SOURCE: Bobbin thread issue on new machine

Have you got the stitch width selector on zero ? If not, it may be wanting to sew a small zig zag........if that is OK, ....

Make up some samples of the problems, call the dealer and arrange to take it back to show them the results and either have it adjusted, or show you what needs to be set where to achieve the results you need...........it is under warantee, and you should expect it to function correctly.

I would not advise you fiddle with anything other than tensions and stitch selector on such a new machine.

Ask if you can have a 15min familiarisation lesson on the machine........we actually offer 3 x 30min free lessons on the use of a new machine so our customers can get the maximum benefit from their purchase.

It has proven to be a good business decision, as we get fewer frustrated phone calls and folks actually go and use the machines properly from day one.

FYI---- Loops on the bottom-- problem is in the threading..
Loops on the top--- problem is with the bobbin.

SOURCE: Shirring fabric?

When putting your shirring elastic on the bobbin, don't thread the elastic through the bobbin holder, adjust the stitch length longer, and loosen the tension, other wise if you want to put it through the bobbin holder you have to loosen the tension screw on the bobbin holder, and then you have to adjust it back for ordinary sewing,

SOURCE: I have a Kenmore 14 stitch sewing machine that I

take out the thread and bobbin. run the machine with the pressure foot up and watch the feed dogs (toothy things under the pressure foot that move the material through the machine). if they are not rising up above the plate, then you are sewing multiple stitches in one place and that's what spools up the threads. take the plate over the feed dogs off (it just pops up). get someone to remove the two screws holding the feed dog on (it's a torx #10). the piece the feed dogs was screwed to rides up and down on a short piece of polished rod under it. the rod has gummed up to its bearing. bright light, look for this and get some oil (3in1) on the rod above the bearing and force the feed dog mount up and down until it frees up.

Why is the thread very easy to pullout of a seam?

Your thread tension is too loose OR you are using a too long a stitch eg Basting stitch. Try gradually tightening the upper tension first.

The bottom stitch is very loose. I've tried tightening and loosening the screw and the problem remains...HELP!

The bottom stitch is affected by the TOP thread tension :) First go back and make sure your bobbin tension is correct since you adjusted it. It should drop slightly when held suspended by danging it by the thread. If it reels out to the floor it is too loose. If it doesn't drop at all it is too tight.

Now that you have that adjusted look at your top tension. If it is loopy on the bottom side of the stitch the TOP tension is too loose. Increase the top tension.

Now take some scrap material and set machine to a wide zig zag, medium length stitch and sew a bit. Compare the top and the bottom sides of the stitch. They should look identical. Remember the TOP side effects the bottom and the BOTTOM tension effects the top side. Adjust accordingly until they look identical with no loose threads or loops and no puckering (puckering means it's too tight).

I cannot get the tension right on my 2600 Brother machine. I am stitching in the ditch with three layers of material. Can you please help?

Make sure you have the right size needle...not to small. Then do a simple seam through three layers (doesn't need to be a seam just sewing through 3 layers of scrap) using a wide zig zag stitch. Examine the stitch looking at both sides. Do they look even, identical?

Think in opposites, ie the bottom thread tension affects the stitch on the top side and the thread tension on top affects the stitch on the bottom side. If one side is loopy then the opposite side tension is too loose (or, sometimes that side's tension is too tight). Adjust until both sides are identical looking. Then try stitching in the ditch like you wanted to.

I just got a Brother CS600i as a gift. The decorative stitches are appearing on the bottom side of the fabric NOT the top. Flip the fabric over and the decorative stitch is perfect and beautiful. To me,...

Usually it is the opposite problem of what you think, try rethreading your machine , because the bobbin thread has to lock on to the top thread. Try this test, with presser foot up, pull top & bottom threads, they should pull smoothly, now lower presser foot and pull again, they should barely move. Try your tension at 3 and your length longer. If that doesn't seat your thread in the tension discs, I don't know what will. You can always call Brother at 1-877-276-8437 and ask if you got a dud and what you can do about it.

How to adjust tension on bottom stitch?

There are tow places where the thread tension is adjusted.

One is bobbin. This is not routinely adjusted. Just once and it is good for long time. This is done by turning the only screw on bobbin by about 1/4 turn or so at a time. Try several settings until you find he best.

the other place is the conventionally on body of the machine.

Tension of bottom stitch or top stitch are very confusing words. meaning difft things to difft pple.
All i can say is this. If u see bottom stitch run straight through loops of top thread. then either top tension is too loose or bottom too tight. and vise versa.

With top tension set to middle position adjust the bobbin to get correct stitch. Then later on all u need is to adjust only the top setting according to stitch and cloth

according to the diagram in the manual, the upper thread tension is set by the wheel/knob on top and just to the right of the thread take up lever and thread guide. If you don't have a manual, go to www.brother-usa.com they have a downloadable manual for your machine.

Loose bottom stitch on brother se 350

Hi, general rule of thumb:: loops on the top, problem on the bottom.. Loops on the bottom, problem is on the top.. When threading your machine, stop just before you thread your needle, put the presser foot down. Try pulling the thread. If it pulls easily, the thread is not thru the tension wheel right. If it pulls hard, you got it right.

you have your thread tension too tight that's why it is pulling the bottom stitch all the way through it looks good from the bottom but not good on top. Its pulled the stitch all the way through the material.
I had my own upholstery shop 18 yrs and tension gets you every time.Just loosen the top tension.

I'm having troubles with my brother sewing machine

Your tension is loose on top. Adjust your tension dial up a little at a time until you have a desirable stitch. Before adjusting the tension, you may want to look into the tension and see if there are any threads caught between the disc. If so remove them. Another common problem is that your machine is not threaded properly, make sure the pressure foot is in the up position when threading and if needed consult your manual for the proper threading diagram.

Brother Sewing Machine model:CS8150 bobbin thread problems

The top of the machine is not threaded correctly. First raise the presserfot then rethread the machine. Bottom looping is usually caused by a lack of top tension. There could allso be a bur on the hook.
