Need a new plug for altenator

Altenator is not charging the system. It could be the altenator, regulator (built into the altenator), A loose wire (bad connection). There is a plug on the altenator that signals this light when a problem occurs. start the car and wiggle it or unplug it and plug it back in, this will tell you if you have a bad connection. To check the altenator you need a voltage tester.

it's possible to get a bad "new" alternator. Get it tested.

you can have your altenator tested at an autozone,advance auto for free while it's still on the car,or you can check it yourself by starting the car,while running disconnect the positive cable,be careful not to let that cable touch anything. if the car dies,the altenators bad. as far as a fuse, you may have a fuseable link,but those are usually for the starter.someone may have done some other wiring to it.i would check the altenator first though.also make sure your belts tight and the altenator is plugged in. check the plug on the altenator to insure it's plugged in all the way.make sure your battery cables are tight. if you decide to go to a parts store to have the altenators good,have them check your battery also. it's free.if your car runs fine until you park it at night and then next morining it will not start,it may be bad battery.just thought i would throw that in,just in case.hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

It comes from the key switch, to activate your altenator, if its the big red wire on the altenator on a lug byitself that one goes to the + side of your battery to charge your battery. the small ones on a plastick plug will plug in on the side of your altenator that is your switched side to activate your altenator.

This sounds like a voltage regulator problem, the voltage regulator is built into the altenator, check your connections to the altenator specfically the ones that plug in, make sure they are secure. The plug in connections provide signal for how much output is needed from the altenator, the regulator provides the output. Check the battery voltage with a voltmeter, turn on everything electrical, rev up engine and see if voltage goes over 14.5 volts, it should be steady. Hope this helps, let me know.

First disconnect the battery then disconnect the harness on the altenator then un bolt the altenator put the new one on then plug in the harness then reconnect the battery.

I would rate this a 5 in difficulty. If you have a metric socket set, basic hand tools and a supertine belt tool it's fairly easy repair. You can rent a surpentine belt tool at Autozone.

Disconnect the battery
remove the cowling
remove the supertine belt from the altenator pully
disconnect the red wire on the back of the altenator
disconnect the harness plug from the altenator
remove the bolts holding the altenator to the mounting brackets.
Reverse the process with the new altenator and it it's done.
Make sure your battery is charged before you start the engine a low battery can cause damage to your new altenator.

check the voltage regulator or any relay that connects the alternator, including the fuse.

with wireing problems like this you may need to find a trust auto shop.

It is the two or three wire connector on the top side of the alternator. Either a wire has broke before the plug or there is a problem with the plugs terminals. The dealer sells a repair pig-tail if you need it.
