Question about Nintendo GameCube Console

1 Answer

Gamecube won't read disks.

Every time we put a game in it runs for 30 seconds or so then stops and says there is an error and to read the instruction booklet. Some are a little scratched, but I dont see how all the games can not be read at the same time due to scratches! Is there any good way to clean them, or is it a console problem maybe?

Re: Gamecube won't read disks.

Run a cd cleaner in the console, see if that works , you can buy them at any music store or even most suermarkets, or the laser could need ajusting , which will mean you need to take it to a service place, laser adjusting is not exspensive ,

your consoles lens is bad if cleaning it did not affect the performance. you should take it to gamestop they fix consoles and a used gamecube is only twenty dollars there.

Your game is probably scratched to the point where the laser can't read it. try replacing the game with another copy and it should work.

The game disk could not be read.

It sounds like the disc reader is dirty, it's the little clear circle right under where a disc would go, closest to the back of the unit.
To clean, open disc cover, locate the disc reader, use a dry soft towel or some toilet paper and gently wipe it off, sometimes even a little dust can cause a problem. This should do the trick. If it doesn't, then either the disc is scratched or the Game Cube has something wrong with it.
hope this helps!

Error reading games

It probably is the games, buddy. I mean, if the disc wouldn't read on THREE different's blatantly obvious that the disc is corrupted. Try it a few times more, and if that doesn't work, then you should probably buy a new game. Depending on the game, it should only cost $9.99 to $49.99. I'm a self-proclaimed Nintendo expert, so that sounds like the right price range. If that is unaffordable, then why did you buy the GameCube in the first place! But, seriously. Also, is it just one game? Or do you have more than one game and all of them won't work? Either way, it's probably the games that are not working.

Game Cube will not read disks. Please help!

you can clean the disks using tap water and then drying with soft cloth have you tried a lense cleaner to clean the laser on the cube get a good brand one not a cheap one also you can buy a disk cleaner that gently takes the scratches out of cds and gets them as new but you will have to shop around to get one but these work on anything cd dvd games the lot so deff worth having one as lots of people throw out dvds cd and games due to the scratches stopping them working but remember the data on a disk isnt on the plastic it is on the layey the other side of plastic the plastic is their to protect the data getting damaged so removing the scratches does not damage the disk if you have scratches this will affect the disk because the laser cant read through the scratch so polishing these scratches out will make the disk as new not many people know you can do this so consider yourself having privalaged info hope this is some help to you but you might have to ask arround for a disk repair so good luck you could even charge people to repair their disks and games this works for anything on a cd style disk.........................................................

Games initial load before Play Starts receive error 'cannot read disk see instruction manual'

If this happens for only some games, you should try cleaning the discs with a disc cleaner. Otherwise, you could try asking around at stores like circuit city, radioshack, best buy, etc. for what you could use to clean the lens, the part that reads the disc in your gamecube. If that doesn't work, chances are that the lens is damaged and your only hope is to send it in for repairs or get a new gamecube (or Wii).
