The motor start capacitor has failed. Pull it off the motor and go to a motor shop- for a new one.

SOURCE: My Delta band saw motor is having issues. I was

I would bet it's the Motor Brushes. They are locaded on the housing of the saw, accesed by unscrewing the plug. The brushes are replaceable and your saw will be fixed.Where to buy replacents could be an issue,Check manufacturer or search power tool replacement motor brushes. If stuck you can try to unscrew the plug the brush is at the bottom engaging the motor armerure, there shoud be a spring keeping contact.Inspect brush condition it looks like a carbon block worn to the curve of the motor.Go online do a search on how electric motors work you'll see exactly what I'm explaining.Cheap part easy fix.Good Luck.

My portable Bose speaker has just started to buzz a few times in quick succession, then stop for half an hour or so (whilst not in use). I have unplugged it from mains power and disconnected the iPod but...

This may be caused by external interference.

If you have an AM radio available, turn it on and tune to mid-band (1000kHz for example) and leave it on.

If there is a strong source of static (table saw or other motor-driven AC device) it will show up at the same time as your buzz.

If it does not, try the FM band (~100MHz) and wait for the buzz to occur.

One cannot predict more exactly the nature of the interference.

How do i open the motor to a black&decker 71&2 inch band saw ? my saw has started to make a lot more noise when runing

There are many reasons why band saw make noise. Here's are some "few checks" to do
1. Run the band saw without blade.
2. Run with a different blade.
3. Run the motor alone.
4. Check the bearings.
Another thing; incorrect speeds and feeds can cause noise and vibration.
Regarding about opening the motor, I can't help you with that. Try to check any other band saw motor manual reference.

I have Trajan 7x12 band saw, no vibration or noisy at all, I use Haltbar blade from sawblade.com

Band saw motor won't start just hums

You will need to take the motor out and check the brushes on the back also check the bearings you may need to disassemble the motor to repair.

Starting capacitor?

How hard is it to turn by hand? Anything binding? The starter windings can be replaced in the back of the motor, depends on the size. The capacitor, if it is shot, the motor would not run at all. Get the motor spinning again and take a stick and rub it against the pulley, if you can stop it, it has lost power, If you can't stop it, it should be fixable. Hope this helps.

Powermatic Band saw 143, when i press the start button the saw turns on but wont stay on. When i release the start button the saw turns off. What is the problem. Please help. Thank You, Lee.

Your powermatic band saw has a Magnetic motor starter. Since it is hard to find parts for the 143 you can remove the power and take the starter apart and clean the contacts. If that fails you can take it off and take it to a Electrical Supply Store and have them match you up with one that will work.

The way the switch works is when you push the on button it picks a relay that starts the motor and also has a contact the holds the relay picked. when you push the stop button it drops the circuit.

This is a safety feature to prevent the motor from restarting after a power failure until you hit the button

Hope this answers all your questions

Radial saw motor just buzzes.

It sounds like the start circuit is shot on the motor of the radial saw. It is trying to start, (the buzzing sound), but the start is not is burnt out, and therefore the run winding is drawing excessive amperage trying to start the motor (a job it is not designed to do) and eventually builds a amp draw in excess of the circuit. You will have to determine which is cheaper a new motor, or a new saw.

Hope this helps

if the motor has a capacitor, that may be bad, or bad centrifical switch in motor, or miswired
