First make sure unit is level. Drain pan may be dirty. On the rheem or Ruud unit the back of the pan gets stopped up. Ithas small holes that let the water by and they get stopped up. Now even though your drain is clean you may have a stopped up dain pan. Check this > These are problems you can take care of your self. Open up the top panel of your unit and you can look down on the drain pan. Check for dirt and stoppage near the outlet of the drain pan. You amy also have a cracked drain pan but I doubt it. Rus

Ruud achiever 90 plus furnace-water leaks from the drain pipe

This furnace should condense, as long as it goes into the drain. If it is leaking inside the furnace, there may be a seal that needs replacing in either the pvc drain pipe or concentric drain trap needs resealed.

Our A/C unit when running, the drain water isn now backing up and leaking over the side in our basement. we've never had this problem before.

Hello, this usually indicates a clogged condensate line or cracked condensate pan. Try using a wet/dry by attaching one end of it to the otlet of the comdensate line, the suction pressure should dislodge the clog. If the line appears clean the the pan is cracked and will require a technician to come out and fix it.

My drain pan is leaking

You need to access the evaporator coil on the inside of your air handler and unplug the drain for the condensate. It should be the 3/4 inch line, if the 1/2 inch line is capped then it is not doing anything and has probably been abandoned.Open up the unit and clean the drip pan and drain hole where the 3/4 line starts. This should clear up your water leak problem.

I have a Ruud Achieve model UPKB 060 CAZ that has a line that keeps freezing up when the thermostat is set to go below 76 degrees. The freon was checked and some was added. Also, the air handler is in...

Normally when the suction line freezes which is the larger of the 2 lines, #1, its low on freon again and unit has a leak. They are sealed systems and they should never need freon only if they develop a leak. So, this we know. Also, if the air filter is dirty and plugged, and the evaporator coil at the air handler is dirty will cause icing of lines and coil. Not enough air flow across the coil due to a dirty filter. When you set your thermostat to go below 76 degrees, the unit will work harder to keep up to bring the temperature down and if you have a leak which you do, the suction line will ice up. A Ruud 060 is a 5 ton btu unit, good size. Who ever added freon should have done a leak check on it. I would recommend you calling them out as it is low again and do a complete leak check, add dye to the system or there are many ways to do this. If the leak is not found it will continue to ice up. By E.P.A. standards, they cant keep adding freon, they must find the leak. This is all about you can do, is check and make sure you have a return air filter and its clean, and if it continues to ice, have them find the leak, repair it, and re-charge it. I wish you the best.
Sincerely,

Our carrier reverse cycle airconditioner is leaking inside the house after a hour of use. how can we fix this? we have cleaned the filters in the inside unit and it still leaks,it works fine as a heater...

Did you blow out the drain? If so pull the front off of the air handler unit. Ckean out drain pan. This drain pan had small holes on either side that run from the sode drain clean those out. Also if your coil is dirty it will pull water back and cause it to leak. Try cleaning coil and dain pan plus blow out drain. Rus

Unit is leaking at the back towards the wall. Drain was cleaned but leak continues.Air filter is also clean. Can't find manual. please help!

Sometimes the pan that catches the water rusts through and leaks no matter what you do with the drain. If the leak spot is accessible you can fix it when its clean and dry with some JB weld or some other epoxy;' many times though its totally unreachable, and needs to be replaced. In that instance call a reputable HVAC to repair. Sometimes leaks come from the unit being out of level. I'm assuming this a split system unit. This sometimes can be re-leveled by way of some wooden shims or adjusting the support. Also you can slightly shim the unit to where the condensation runs forward to the drain, avoiding the leak in the back. Good luck

Leak

what is leaking the inside unit air handler or outside compressor

My fan outside will not turn off. I have a Ruud Achiever 10 unit. I cleaned the coils on the unit outside and the filter for the furnace. The unit does cool.

Is the compressor also running or just the fan? If both are running, you've probably got a freon leak and the system isn't cooling properly so it runs continuously trying to reach the thermostat set-point.

If only the fan is stuck on, you've most likely got a stuck fan relay. Replacements are available at HVAC supply stores and most will sell to the public. Not a real difficult fix but BE SURE to pull the electical disconnect AND flip the breaker OFF before you attempt any repairs.

How do I change the filter in my Ruud Achiever series

I'd look in one of 2 areas.

1. often there is a central return in the house. This is the place where the air gets pulled back to the unit and is likely very close to your thermostat. Check for a filtered louvered grill there and see if your filter is located here. If so, you can access the filter by opening the filter frame with a screwdriver or even a coin.

2. Otherwise I would expect that your filter is on the return-air side of your air handler (where the blower is) Older models have the filter actually inside the air handler in the blower compartment. Newer models may have a small separate filter door. I'd look in these areas.

hope this helps
