Matrox g550 display card with winxp pro

I can't seem to get my computer to boot up to win xp after installing the latest driver for my matrox millineum g550 display card. The computer keeps restarting. The card works with win 2000 and win98se as I have all pull out drives so I can change from one OS to the next. I have an Asus a7v333 MB and an Athlon 1800xp processor. Any suggestions.

Try pressing f8 before you see the win xp logo with the scrolling green bar. Select Safe-Mode and press the enter key. This will bring you into safe-mode. If you can boot into safe mode then try going to the device manager and uninstalling the drivers. After that reboot and let windows use the default graphics card drivers. Then go to the manufacturer website and download the latest drivers.

Can you actually go into safe mode or not, if you can try to do a driver rollback from device manager -> display controller's properties, driver tab, rollback driver.

I would attempt to get the a previous version of the driver from the manufacturer and after unloading the driver in safe mode attempt to install that one.

Try uninstalling first display adapter that is currently installed form your device
1. On My Computer, right click and select properties.
2. Select Hardware tab, and click Device Manager.
3. On the list of device manager, click View menu and select Devices by type
4. Double click Display Adapters, to display the list of connected graphics adapter.
5. Disable the graphics adapter listed, by right clicking of the file name and select uninstall.
6. Now close any program and shutdown your computer..
7 Connect your video card to the motherboard and turn on your computer. Your computer will run its Add New Hardware Device , just be ready with your driver files..

I hope that will make your video card work with your motherboard

I installed window xp when my display driver installed my screen is then flicering from that time.

Try to boot into VGA mode by hitting F8 as soon as POST boot screen has disappeared. If there is a possibility to uninstall through Add/Remove programs, do so. If not, then go to Device Manager and uninstall the driver there. Reboot and let Windows detect the device for itself. If it finds a driver by itself, let it install.

Sapphire HD 2600 XT Driver Problems

Just because you have a new video card with CD drivers does not mean the drivers are the latest. Go to Saffhire directly & download the latest driver software for you're card.

Uninstall any older driver software before installing newer. Try not to restart the system between installs.
And update windows before you install the new drivers. You do not need to install WinXP SP3. Unless you want too.

Good luck!
