Question about Washing Machines
You have to take the top cover loose to be able to see under it. The sensor itself is usually a micro switch which is operated by a (generally) plastic lever that moves when the lid is closed. The method of getting the top cover off depends on the brand and year of make. Some have screws on back that allow the top to slide slightly toward the rear, then lift the front. Older GE's require a thin putty knife to be pushed rearward on each front corner to release a latch. Other brands may require something similarly cute.

Tips for a great answer:
Thank you for your inquiry, David Castro!
I understand that your Frigidaire washer is not working after the lid piece became broken. If the lid piece is not latching properly inside of the door latch then your washer is not registering the door is closed and will not start. You may need to have that piece replaced I would recommend having any electrical component replaced by an authorized technician. I hope this is helpful. -Matt
