Question about Aiptek A-HD 720P Flash Media Camcorder
I purchased an Aiptek camcorder on a recent trip back to the USA, (we currently live in South Africa) in order to record our vacation to Disney World. It seemed to work fine, but the microphone was not good, so I returned the camera and did not replace it. I had the photo images and video clips recorded on an 2 gig Lexar HS 60x SD card. When I viewed the images and video on the TV from the camera in the USA, everything looked fine. However, I did not have my laptop with me or access to any computer there. I did not copy the CD rom that came with the camcorder and do not have the software that came with the camcorder. I went to the Aiptek web site, and they do not offer any downloads. When I came back to South Africa, I tried to find the images and video on the SD card, but the computer will not recognize them. It says that the card is not formatted. I have tried various recovery software programs, and the images and video are there, but cannot be retrieved in a usable format with any of them. Some of the pictures have been retrieved, but they are of a horrible quality and cannot be repaired. The videos just come out black if they are retrievable. It seems like a software problem, but I do not know how to fix it. Is there some special software that aiptek uses, and if so, how do I get a copy here in South Africa, since they do not sell the camcorders here? I could order one to be shipped here, but I do not want one if the microphone and sound quality is so poor. Can you help or advise? Thanks. Ray Mossie firstname.lastname@example.org
I have no problem removing the card and uploading pictures or video to my computer via a card reader. However I am using a Mac computer and the video files are MOV which are Mac files.

I have found that you almost have to download your pictures directly from the camera with the SD chip still in it. Don't know why you can't take the chip out, like with other media. As I recall, the manual says to download from your camera. Sorry.
