No, because it's cheaper to replace the keyboard than to hire a professional technician to try to repair it -- "planned obsolescense".

I can't get a pound sign when I shift 3 what do I need to do

I would initially shut down the machine completely and wait about 10 seconds and restart.

What symbol do you get when you press Shift 3?

Do all the keys on the keyboard depress when you press them? You may have a random key that's sticking thus causing you to get different key combinations.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.
