Estate by whirlpool/agitator will not turn

under the top half of the agitator there are 4 agitator dogs. these pieces have edges to them that catch the inside of the upper agitator and if they are worn down, and they do wear, it will not move the agitator for you. hope this helps.

Agitator on Estate washer will not fully agitate.

The dogs are broke on the agitator. Need a new set of dogs.......(duh ...not the barking kind, it's part of the agitator) Agitator has two pieces. It is the top piece.

How can one remove the agitator,it seems to move slower than it used to

If this a Whirpool manufactured washer (this includes Kenmore, Estate and Roper), the agitator can be removed by following these steps:

1, Remove the agitator center cap by either pulling straight up or gently placing a flat blade screwdriver into a slot located in the cap. Some washers will have a fabric softener dispenser on the center post.

2. If the agitator is equipped with an inner cap with a handle, remove this as well by pulling straight up.

3. Remove the center bolt of the agitator. You will have either a 7/16” hex bolt or a recessed square plastic nut. If you have the square recessed type, use a 3/8” to ½” ratchet adapter to remove.

4. Remove the agitator by grasping the bottom flange and carefully pulling straight up. Try to keep all the parts assembled while doing this, so do not pull too hard. This will make this repair much easier.

If you have questions, or need additional assistance, please let me know.

NOTE: When reinstalling the agitator make sure you do not over-tigthen the bolt. This can damage the agitator and restrict its movement. Tighten until snug.

How to replace agitator dogs

Remove the bolt and pull the entire agitator off. Turn upside down and separate the two pieces. You'll see the part that holds the dogs in place
