Initially the lens comes out, the screen lights up, but there are a number of bleeps, the lens seems almost to hesitate, and then retracts and the camera switches off. Seem to be exactly the same problem as experienced by other contributors
I had this problem with my M30 and sent it back to Pentax they said it would cost £80 to repair but would let me have a new M40 for £100 that was 18 months ago and the same problem has occured with the new M40. this would seem to be a Pentax problem so now I am buying a Canon Ixus. Would anyone like the pentax m40 for parts?
