Sounds like you threw a rod. If your warranty just ran out you might be able to get sears to still honor it.
Good luck!

Have 18hp briggs on snapper zero turn lawn mover was mowing lawn heard bang like I hit a branch and motor slowed down and kept running but ran a little rough no grinding or nokeing engine still runs

This sounds like a burned or stuck valve. Try a little marvels mystery oil in the dead cylinder to see if it can free up the valve (if it is stuck).

What do i do i put gas in oil tank self propelled snapper?

If you did not try to mow the lawn, but shet the motor off before there was a loud KA BOOM.
If not, it is time to consider a new motor.

Otherwise just drain the crankcase like you would to change the oil.
If you have a friend that could help tilt the mower so almost all the gas is drained.
Now, put oil in the motor, 40 wt because there will still be a little gas left in the motor and when you mix gas and oil the gas is absorbed by the oil and the oil will thin out.
DO NOT! start it up and rev up the motor. You want to let any remaining gas to be taken up by the oil. Run around your lawn a few times at a moderate speed WITHOUT the blades engaged.
After this you can mow the lawn, at a moderate throttle setting, then drain the oil and fill it with the oil your owner's manual says to use.

Or just put around your yard for 30 - 40 minutes, then change the oil.

The above will only apply if you didn't mow until you had flames coming out of the exhaust and banging, knock ing noises were coming from the motor.

After mowing I changed my oil last week. This week I mowed a side lot w/out any problem. Started a 2nd lot and the mower died. I noticed the motor was running hot, so I let it cool down. After cool down...

Did you try jumping it or turning the motor by hand to see if it ceased? Is it possible your battery went dead. Also if it was overheating, check to make sure you used the right oil, and that the cooling fins on the motor are not clogged with grass or other debris.

Hello Michael.
Sounds like your burning oil. For any engine repair I start with the main three things: Compression, spark and fuel. Without these three things an engine will not run. Compression testors can be purchased at any parts store and are easy to use. You simply thread them into the spark plug hole and crank engine until needle stops moving then observe. Spark testors connect inline between your spark plug and rubber boot. Simply turn the starter over and watch siteglass to see if there is spark or not. Checking fuel, make sure your getting fuel to the carb. If your getting fuel to carb but only starts with starting fluid, you know you have a dirty carb. Although I believe your problem lies with compression, that's where I would start. You should have at least 75 psi and reading should hold and not fall quickly. Let me know what you find after doing this and I can help steer you in the right direction from there. Good luck!

Vauxhall zafira 2004 noise from engine then stopped and oil everywhere

Lots of problems here. Consider that you should check the dipstick and see if any oil remains in oilpan. Quite possible that oil leaked out and caused the banging problem.

If the engine recorded a problem on its onboard computer, then a scanner can be hooked up to the test plug and you can find out what was recorded. You do not need to have the engine running to get the results.

This is a best senario case because it is assuming the oil leak was not the result of the engine coming apart or holes through the engine just that you lost all the oil through a failed seal or gasket.

For a few years, engines were built with a term called "Interference" in the design. It means that IF your engine is one of these Series, if a timing belt breaks, the valves can hit the pistons and the motor is junk. You would have to ask if this is a non-Interference motor at a Dealer.

If you are very lucky, a safeguard for low oil pressure was designed into the motor. It should have killed the engine before the banging, but still could have protected some of the components. Another way to check is to drain what remains of the oil. Sometimes parts come out of the oil drain plug hole.

About the only thing left to do is find the oil leak. Repair the Code item, add some oil, try to start the engine and hope the knock is gone. Most likely you will need to do a teardown and replace parts, maybe even the entire motor.

I hope that this helps you, but you are in a bad situation and there is not much to try but what I recommended.

Wsher will not spin at end of cycle, tries to and stops. there was a loud bang in the previous load. drum will spin but tight. What to check kenomre 417-44142400

Hi stevensch693,

The loud bang you most likely heard is the capacitor of the motor, it has blown.

Open the washing machine up, look for the following component near the main motor:

jedemeyer1.gif
You will need to replace this component. Be very carefull when disconnecting it, as it may still give you a nasty shock.

You can find these at any appliance spares shop or even hardware outlet. Note the number on it, if requesting a emplacement - even better, take it with when purchasing one.

Kind Regards

If you ran the engine out of oil then it is done. You car wont just shut off it the radiator is bad. You will need to have the motor swapped. What pump broke?

My ninja wont start

bang bang bang is ok. bada bing bada bing is not. you've got the 3bang problem. 3 bangs means the transmission and output shaft is locked. It will act like the motor is locked but it isn't. The tail isn't wagging the dog. The transmission is locked and the motor won't start, because of the 3 bang problem.

Murray rear engine riding mower locks up after riding briefly

check your oil of course
does the engine have a pull rope?
if so try to pull start it
is the motor free?
next step do you have a good battery?
under the motor cover. if you have a pull start is a clutch type mechanism that engages when you pull start it
remove motor cover and on top of the clutch you will see a small hole put oil in that hole and work it so the oil goes to lubricate the shaft that the clutch spins on this mechanism and spins freely only ccw cw it catches and turn the motor,
just a thought it may or may not be related
