I think you have to change it. If it vas exposed in direct sunlight it's liquid may began not to responce because they dried enought.
Other reason may be folling down it sometimes can be rapared.
And if it was not used some time it can be moisted. The last two cases electrical contacts of monitor must be dried and cleared but only by trained person.

Vertical lines on half the screen:
Usually the display ribbon cable or the LCD display. At the shop we find out replacing ribbon cable first.
In some rare occasion it can be the display adapter built on the motherboard. You can test the video adapter connecting the laptop to an external display.
regards.

Dell Latitude D505 half of screen is black with colored vertical lines.

Sounds like you have a section of dead pixels. This can happen if the laptop has been dropped a lot or stepped on or some type of impact on the laptop. This is a hardware issue. You will need to have the screen replaced. In my opinion, by the age of the laptop, its better off getting a new one.

My dell inspiron 710m has no video but has vertical lines of diferents colors and i can see image perfect thru external monitor

Could be 2 possible culprits.
1) Your LCD display panel is defective.
2) You video I/O cable that connects the LCD to motherboard is defective or has poor connection.

My 5 year old Dell Inspiron 710m screen is cracked. My son hit it with a remote and it has black fuzzy stuff throughout it that is spreading. What can I do?

So sorry about the cracked screen. But the solution to cracked screens is replacement.
But pending the time it can be replaced, if you have a desktop monitor, you can connect it to it.
If not, a flat screen TV could do the job of display, using the monitor display cable.

Hope that helped?
Success.

A line appeared in the middle of the screen and has expanded and now the botttom half of the screen has two horizontal bars of vertical lines instead of the bottom half ot the display. Recently had new...

Try to plugged in external monitor to your computer. If you did not experienced this problem using the external monitor then this is not a mainboard issue. This could be an LCD issue. You need to call the manufacturers tech support department and have your computer repaired. Same goes also if you experienced same problem using external monitor. You still need to call dell tech support department for mainboard replacement.

White vertical line through laptop screen

The cause is a failure of the LCD, and you can fix it by replacing the LCD.

Dell 710M display has vertical colored lines instead of info

I suspect that the flat wire between you keyboard and screen is coming loose. It is within one of the himges and is about 1" wide and very delicate. You can not fix it and should take it to someone who works on laptops. Sorry that is the best I can suggest

Vertical lines appear on my lcd monitor

Hi
I am a Dell Certified System Engnieer(DCSE)

you have to be sure if its an issue with the screen or operating system or video card
what you have to do is
turn off your system
now the moment you turn it on again start hitting F2 key
you will get system setup screen
if you see those lines here as well get the LCD replaced and if there are no lines
then try installing the latest drivers
or else you have to get the parts replaced
either the screen or video card
but in case you get display fine in system setup
its for sure your display is fine
