1996 Chevy Tahoe air conditioning not blowing cold air

I have a 1996 Chevy Tahoe LT. The air conditioner is not blowing cold air. I refilled it to see if that would fix the problem but it didn't. There is round black thing on the front of the compressor that will start to spin then stop. I believe that it is not supposed to be doing that.

Any suggestions?

That "thing" is part of the compressor clutch. When it’s spinning the clutch is engaged, when it stops the compressor is off. If it’s constantly cycling, you probably don’t have enough freon in the system. But remember, however the gas escaped before, it will escape again, unless you fix the leak.

Low coolant. Fill it, leave the cap off and get the engine to operating temperature. The coolant will fall refill it and put the cap of. Let the pressure build up and check for leaks.

I have a 2003 chevy tahoe Lt the air works in front and with back controls but heat is only working in the front it blows with back controls but puts out no heat what causes this?

Your climate system can only cool or heat but not both. The temperature has a big effect on this. The cooling needs the compressor.

2003 Chevy Tahoe Front AC blows cold air but rear does not blow cold air

Check control switches, power and grounds, and the 'blend door' operation. If you have a 'no heat' condition throughout the vehicle you should look to make sure the heater core is not plugged, and that the thermostat is operating properly, and that the coolant/antifreeze level is within spec.

99' Chevy Tahoe Air Conditioner not working

It doesn't blow cold air? Doesn't come on at all? What's the problem? If it doesn't blow cold after a charge, it leaks. Either on the compressor or in a line or both. To start at the dealer, a compressor is about $1200. That's what they told me. I have two leaks. You can buy remanufactured compressor on ebay for under $200. Or find a good shop (polar bear around here) with reasonable prices and have them do it for something in between.

If it no air is moved at all by your climate control system, the blower motor could be fried, the switch may have gone bad or a fuse is blown perhaps. If it moves air, but not cold air, recharge it and see if it stays cold. If so, great! If not, find the leak.

Temp. actuator stuck on heat , probably . Manual or automatic climate control . Electrically controlled temp actuator , or the door is stuck in heat side.
