These cars are notorious for having blocked heater cores, causing the heater to blow cold air. That's because there is a heater core bypass hose near the firewall that allows the coolant to bypass the heater core. Eventually the heater core fills with gunk and no coolant passes through it. You'll need to disconnect the hoses from the heater core at the firewall and flush the core using a garden hose. Flush both ways till water runs clear. If you can't access the heater core fittings at the firewall, then follow the hoses from these fittings back to the engine and disconnect them at that point and flush from there. If you flush from the hoses in this manner, it is important that you clamp off the bypass hose at the firewall with a vice grip pliers.
Otherwise the flushing water will go through the bypass hose and not the heater core.

The first thing to look for is a low coolant level before suspecting any other parts.

'02 Buick LaSabre. heater blowing cold. Things I've tried. Plenty of coolant in the system. With engine running and warmed up, checked both heater hoses and they are hot to the touch. What do you think?

hi, some cars have a HEATER FLAP. if not CLOSING then cold air will be blown in. LEAVE ENGINE OFF and check the lever and listen for the SLAP of the flap CLOSING. the control cable is faulty. or the ELECTRONIC HEATER CONTROL NOT WORKING or the HEATER RADIATOR (UNDER DASH is BLOCKED). or AIR in SYSTEM. needs bleeding. gerry

Jeep AC blows cold air at defrost and feet but not through vents

There is a flap that directs the air. the flap is controlled by a vacuum actuator. This is located inside the venting. The actuator is connected to little vacuum hoses that attach to the temperature control switch. Either the flap is stuck, or the actuator has gone bad.

Heater is blowing only cold air. both hoses for heater core are warm. what you think, main flap is stuck or is something else??

Hello there..Its two things..If your saying that the heater hoses are hot into the car,,either the blend dorr they call it thats what changes from cold to hot,the flap as you say,or the heater controller that controls it is bad..The dial on the dash that says cold to hot..Shut car down and listen for the flap to open and clse when you change it to hot to cold..If you hear it moving doesnt neccisarily mean that its working it could be broke from the flap and just spinning around or the flap its self is broke,or the heater controls are bad,,Hope this helps you and have a great day

AC blowing heat and air at same time

Yeah Ron, the flap that covers the heater core is open and when you're moving the air is pushed over the heater core and into the cab your in. Possibly just a vacuum line of that controls said flap. Check all vacuum lines for good proper connection to these flaps because all of them are vacuum actuated.

Cold air all the time

one of you trampillias not working either a thin plastic pipe has come off or computer not working or a control switch so the flap is not opening up allowing the air to blow over the heater core rad .look under bonnet for a valve/solonoid with a pipe in and two or three out, sometimes this packs up which doesnt allow the vacumn through to open the actuators (trampillias)
