NEc plasmasync 42mp2 - dark screen and in the top few pixels show the image
Before this, on the image ( i was watching a movie ) for few secs the contour of images become pixelate. And than suddenly the image become dark and in the top of the screen i can see like I am watching trough a very dense textile material the image. Also the OSD is failed to display as the digits are not shown completly and appear line by line like someone draw them with hand. I am concerned about the fact it is plasma tube faulty or other part of the tv ?

It's either the Y-main or logic board but you would need to do some extensive testing to know for certain which one... It's not the screen..
I would strongly recommend you take it into a shop and have a Tech test it and give you an estimate..

Have you tried changing the input? Meaning, as soon as you power the screen on, press the "input select" button then wait a few seconds if nothing comes up press it again, do this until you find your connection and you should be set. This problem seems to keep coming up with this particular Plasma, so I guess I'll keep on answering. Good Luck
Exactly the same problem here on same model NEC but problem more intermittent, some days can be fine others unwatchable. Can see many dark pixels when i lose brightness, looks a bit like a big square patch over the screen. You ever manage to fix this gemguy?
I picked up a wonderful three tier glass table stand for this exact T.V. at Wal-mart for $189.99, This is fairly inexpensive compared to some of the options out there, but its well worth the money. The thing that is great about this is that there is no holes to drill, no making sure its level. You just put the setup together yourself, attach the bracket to the back of your t.v. then hang it up on the stand and your good to got. It's very durable and you can swivel left to right. If your looking to spend less, there are a million different places on the web offering wall mounts for $29.99 on up.
Usually many plasma's have their controls on the side of the screen including power, so I would check their 1st.
As for getting a remote, harmony (now owned by logitech) makes some great remotes. One of the advantage of their remotes is that they are programmed from the computer by entering the model # of the items you wish to control. So you would just enter the NEC model to program the tv.
Possibly but I will need a great deal more informtion... When you say no pic, do you have any raster, blue screen or any light at all?? Sound - when you change channels does it appear to change or stuck on the same channel? If you look across the screen can you see an image of a picture - use a flash light in same direction - any image at all??
It could be the logic scan board failure (you can open the back cover to locate the exact board and you can replace it if you can find a spare board), or the panel failure (it's the beyond economical repair case).
If you're NOT still under warrantee you should at least open the TV and check the board where the components are mounted and resoled any that look bad. If you are using a surge protector, try connecting the set directly to the wall outlet.
In your case it could caused by a blown fuse, a leaky diodes or a bad solder joint at the horizontal drive transformer.
All can be replaced at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace
If this does not correct the problem, you may need to have your TV serviced.
