Question about Fisher and Paykel GWL11 Top Load Washer

2 Answers

My GWL10 fills really slowly. It starts fine with the hot water, then slows to a trickle when it switches to cold but it doesn't seem to affect it if I change the temperature selection. I normally leave it set on warm. The hot water comes on first & fills quickly for a while but once the cold comes on it slows down. I've tried putting it on just hot but it makes no difference.I did check the screens/filters and they're fine.

DId you ever resolve this issue? My GWL10 is 11 years old. The machine was filling very slowly and the inlet valve was screeching. I removed the water supply hoses and pulled out the water inlet strainers. I had to use pliers whose jaws mate perfectly in order to grasp the small, flat protrusions. They looked clean enough on the flat sides (facing out), but when I pulled them out, I saw that the cylindrical sections were completely clogged with sediment and rust particles. So I carefully back-flushed them in the sink and coaxed out the crud with a nylon brush. When clean, I reinstalled them, hooked up the hoses, turned on the machine, and what a difference! Just like new.

Your cold water valve diaphram is faulty If you take the coil off you can unscrew the centre and see the problem .Make sure you turn the taps off so as not to get any water near the boards.Hope this helps.Cheers.

Sounds like you have a restriction on the cold water water pipe kinked or a blockage turn off cold water and remove pipe from cold tap then turn tap on and see if water is coming through fast enough if it is then the restriction is in the hose or valve on washing machine if not then the restriction is in the cold water tap

Hot water barely comes out,

If you switched the feed hoses over and the problem reversed itself, cold has gone from fast to slow useing the hot water pipe and hot from slow to fast useing the cold water pipe then this would indicate a fault in the water supply from the hot pipe. What sort of pressure is coming from the hot pipe when not connected to the machine but filling in to a bucket? Are there any shut off valves before the pipe that supplies the hot water? Are they fully turned on? Any kinks in the feed pipe for the hot water? Has the hot water feed pipe collapsed internally? Change the pipe to check this and not just at the machine side.

My washer will fill with water during the wash cycle just fine, but during the rinse cycle the water just trickles in. The water lines seem to be fine. What else could be causing my problem?

usually the wash is a mix of hot and cold and the rinse is just cold, that said, it is most likely a problem with the cold water supply. check to make sure the cold water valve is all the way open and the hose isn't kinked. If those are ok turn the water supply off and remove the supply lines on the machine side, you will see a screen inside the washer that may be clogged with sediment. If so, just clean it out and put it back together. You may also want to run a wash cycle on cold only to see if it fills slowly for the wash cycle. If it does fill slowly on cold you have low pressure on the cold side.

The flow of the cold water seems to be restricted. The hot water pores into the tub. The cold trickles in. After disconnecting the cold hose, hot water back feeds out of the cold input side of the machine....

remove the cold water hose from the machine that is your service line feeding into it.

My washer seems is filling very slowly, and doesn't empty all the water out of the tub. I tried both temperature settings and it doesn't seem to matter. It will fluctuate back and forth on how fast it...

regarding your filling problem , most washers have small screen filters at the water intake, take your hot and cold hoses of of your machine and observe the fittings on the machine you will likely find the filters there they are just a mesh screen, remove them and clean , then reassemble this should solve your slow filling problem

Slow cold water flow won't go back to full flow

I think the water inlet valve is nearly stopped up with sediment in the screen filter where the supply hose screws to the valve.Cut the water off at the hose and disconnect and look for the screen. The hot water usually doensn't do this because the water has time to settle everything out while it's in the hot water heater.

its in your cold water line valve to the washer if it works good with hot water the valve are incoming line being blocked when you turn it on the pressure comes in fast then when pressure is gone water slows down so when its off the pressure builds back up it runs fast then slow
