You have a bad magnetron. We see this over and over.

If it's within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years) but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then your manufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you or the labor charge to do the work.

You'll save a lot by taking it in yourself.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383

The door switch you suspected is bad, and it must be replaced. They normally cannot be cleaned or burnished and be reliable.

SOURCE: Westinghouse microwave WST3502..... Problem:

Press "Clock", type in the time on the keypad and then press "Start". The clock runs a little slow (at least on mine) and I have to reset it about once a month. It gets about 10 - 15 minutes behind after awhile.

SOURCE: I have a Hamilton Beach

Assuming its the same as my Hamilton Beach, you first enter the cooking time, but don't press start yet, instead press power, then a number button 1 - 9 for the power level 1 for 10%, 2 for 20% etc. THEN press start as normal

My mom just bought a Hamilton beach microwave and it keeps going back to military time

You didn't specify which model so I'll speak generically.

Look for a button called "settings". Under the settings menu you should see a "clock mode" or similar. Select the "12 hour" setting for civilian time.

The clock on my hamilton Beach microwave keeps returning to 00:00 each time I set it.

Clock. 12 hr displays, input time, press START not Clock, that should do it.

My Hamilton Beach microwave goes to military time after a certain period of time, no matter what I do with the settings

12h time vs 24 hour time, after 12:00 PM time then goes to 13:00 = 1:00 PM

Take the big number and -12 to it

15:00 —-> 15 - 12 = 3:00 PM
22:00 —>. 22-12 = 10 PM

Silence a hamilton beach microwave. How to

Tips to Silence Hamilton Beach Microwave includes cleaning the interior, placing the microwave on a stable surface, using microwave-safe dishes and containers, repositioning the microwave in an open area with ample ventilation, checking for loose parts, using lower power settings, investing in noise-canceling mats, and checking the exhaust fan.
