- Thanks, the information was really helpful. How do I copy NTDLR file to the root of the laptop drive? The drive has been formatted. Tried reinstalling windows, still get the same message.

- Thanks, the information was really helpful. But the issue is when i put in the XP cd, thats the error message I recieve. I have tried changing the boot device to cd and still get the same error.
You need to either reinstall windows, or take the hard drive out, hook it up as a spare drive to a working computer and copy NTDLR to the root of the laptop hard drive. It would be much easier to reinstall windows. You can always use the recovery portion of Windows, but if I were you I would just do a format and reinstall. NTDLR is just a startup file for Windows XP, that does not mean your hard drive is gone or anything. Please don't forget to rate!..Thanks

issue with acer aspire X3812, the dvd writter can read CD, burn cd but it does not work when i want to burn DVD. No problem to read DVD : video or data. It starts burning then after 5mn stop, eject the DVD and explain that there is an issue so put a new blank DVD. Another point : I cannot create the rescue DVD, it fails (link to the DVD burn issue)

Umax 2200 usb scanner & Vistascan 3.55u in Windows XP Scanner installs to the default XP scanning software, but I have not been able to install the scanner so that it works with the Vistascan software. I much prefer Vistascan as it is much more user friendly & offers more flexibility. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, new problem. My uncle has asked me to fix his iWin media player. It plays it all and has an inbuilt fm transmission to listen to his music through his stereo. However, he only had it about a week and the screen froze on the menu. Same problem over and over. I've tried upgrading the firmware from firmware I've downloaded but its not specific to iWin and now the screen just shows white. I'm aware that this company don't have the most magnificent reputation but really want to do this for my uncle as he's done so much for me. Anybody any idea what chip is in the thing. Cannot get the board out of the shell at all, think its superglued in! Any help would be great. Ps, its still possible to access the files stored on it through the computer and also it does still power up, its not dead yet!!!
