It could be ,depends on the make, model an year vehicle. Best to test power B+ voltage an grounds > I don't know what if anything you know about automotive electronics. You can go to youtube an check out some videos on basic automotive electrical testing an trouble shooting . Some newer vehicles the dash lights are controlled by a module , BCM - body control module ,SJB - smart junction box etc.... You can go to www.bbbind.com/ for free wiring diagrams an see what all is involved in the circuit. I don't like to see people waste there money just replacing parts . I have been fixing vehicles for over thrity years . Started at a Chevy dealer right out of a two year automotive program back in 1984 .

Did you check fuse's in the I/P fuse box ? Do you have base model or upscale . Do you have a DVOM -digital volt ohm meter ? The overhead (DOME)light gets power from the BCM then through the dimmer switch to ground . Pull the cover off dome lamp an with the lights on check for B+ at the bulb. If there is B+ go to the dimmer switch an check for B+ going in an going out . If none coming out the switch is bad . The I/P lamps are controlled by the BCM as well

Toyota hiace lights wount come on

Check the dimmer switch! Head lights should still work if dimmer! But no interior dash lights! Fuse for lights is under hood in fuse center! If it is the headlights I would check the switch and if applicable the relay! I assume you have checked for ground at the light and power at the headlight fuses!! Good luck

I turned on my head lights in my 99 f350 7.3 powerstroke and my dash lights came on then shut off and I can't find a blown fuse what could be the problem

If all fuses are good, it's possible that the headlight switch itself has failed or become rusty, or that the dash light dimmer has become dirty or rusty. Try some WD-40 on the headlight switch contacts, and same with the dash light dimmer wheel mechanism. Best of luck to you!

1994 Altima dimmer switch replacement

Dash lights don't work off the dimmer switch, but the headlight switch. I would check the headlight switch first.

1994 silverado illumination on instrument panel doesn't work, parking lights and tail lights do not work but headlights and brakelights work fine. All fuses are good. Is this a bad dimmer switch?

No. Dash lights being out could be a bad headlight switch, since the dash lights are routed through the headlight switch, not the dimmer switch. Park and tail lights also controlled by the headlight switch.

Dash lights do not work 2000 ford exploier

All go out at once, first check fuses, then dimmer switch for dash lights, finally headlight switch. To check dimmer switch, pull connection off back, on harness with test light and headlight switch activated, 1 of the leads should have power, if so, use ohm meter on dimmer to make sure it has reading between 0 and some value, if no value, open, dimmer is bad, if there wasn't power then check headlight switch, there should be heavier gauge wire that powers switch and 1 for output to hi/lo switch, smaller gauge wires for tail lamps, dash lights, license plate lamps, parking lights. The color wires from dimmer would correspond to the same colored wires on headlamp switch, probe that connection on headlamp switch with switch engaged and see if you have power, if not replace switch, if so, check wire from switch to dimmer. Now if the lights slowly went from bright one day, to less bright some other day, to not working, then the bulbs are bad... good luck...

My light are completely out, but truck is running. What could this problem stem from?

A faulty headlight switch will go completely dead & will not affect the engine to run well

'97 Malibu, dash lights don't work

Check your fuses. The dash lights are on a different fuse. Also check dimmer switch. If its not one, then it is the other. Try working dimmer switch quickly back and forth( with the lights on when it's dark so you can see if they come on).

2004 Outback: headlights stopped working.

either the headlight switch is defective or the dimmer is, it can't be anything else, do the hi beams work ok, have you tried wiggling the dimmer switch to see if the low beams flicker?

1990 Jeep Wrangler Problem:

1990 Jeep Wrangler. Driving with lights on for 10 - 15 minutes. First the dash lights go out followed by the headlight and tail lights. If you pull the dimmer switch back (like you would to flash your brights at someone) the head lights will come on and as long as you continue to pull back on the dimmer switch the head lights will stay on bright.
