2005 Yamaha FX jet ski not accelerating

I have a 2005 Yamaha FX jet ski, it has been in the water a couple of weeks - kept on a jet ski dry dock. It was running well all weekend then when I pushed it into the water it idled fine and pushed water through the back but when I tried to accelrate the RPM's would increase but there was no power and it vibrated substantially. I could barely get enough power to get it back on the dry dock. Topping out at 4 mph. When I revved it on the dry dock it did not vibrate. Any thoughts?

Can this problem be fixed by someone with little experience or is it a pretty straightforward repair?

First of all check out the motor starter --------- The starter is held on with 2 bolts. To get to it you take off the exhaust manifold, or pull the engine out of the hull. the other problem is the short circuit in the power section.the fuse is blown.due to this its not showing power.this requires servicing.plus some fuse and engine power wires repolacement.as the enfine is proper as you said the RPM rises so its not a costly issue and this is a good thing.but a time consuming and requires the time. thanks.please do rate the solution.thank you for using fixya.keep updated.

There is a problem with the jet, it either is plugged or the shaft bearings are worn out.

this is not a straight forward repair, I fixed mine and for that I needed a bearing press and a welding torch to free the seized bearing's for the jet drive impeller shaft, have been a tech for 40 years and this was an 8 with 10 being the hardest job.

2004 waverunner fx cruiser, ran great last time out. Now hard to start and wont run on high speed. Nothing over 6 mph.

How old is the fuel? Ethanol causes major problems if left too long. You may need to empty the fuel and clean out the fuel system. Try changing the fuel filter and adding some seafoam to the fuel and running seafoam thru the fuel system. Hopoe this helps.

Rear seat removal, fx yamaha jet ski, latch will not release the seat

As bad as this sounds its the only way. Grab yourself a 2x4 and a nice size prybar.
Lay 2x4 across the back grab handle as to not damage it then put prybar directly under seat latch and pop it up.

I have a Yamaha FX Cruiser HO (2010). The jet ski died in the water on me last week. I determined it to be a fuse. Replaced the fuse with the extra one and it burned out again. Any suggestions?
