[1] Open the top cover. [2] Open the front door. To do this, look directly under the digital display and located a latch. Pull the latch up and the front door will open toward you. [3] On the right-side panel of the printer, locate a big screw in the middle of the top and loosen it. Now, the side panel comes off easily. [4] Once the side panel is off the printer, you will see a big vertical opening where one (1) RAM module can be inserted. [5] Note also that, to the left of the big opening, the word HDD is stamped onto the metal. That's where a 2.5-inch hard drive can be installed. There are two screw holes diagonally where a hard drive should be installed.

In step [3] when the side panel becomes loose, pull the top part of the side panel away from the printer. The side panel has three big plastic tabs that latch into slots along the bottom part of the side. That's why, if you pull only the top part of the side panel away from the printer, the panel comes off easily.

My guess as to why the user manual has no instructions on how to open the right-side panel is that OKI wants you to purchase RAM (and HDD) directly from them and that the instructions on how to install the RAM (and HDD) will explain how to open the right-side panel. I would not think that this approach by OKI is bad. If the instructions were in the user manual, then typical end users would try to open the right-side panel and begin "investigating" what's under the panel. If an end user guesses wrong about the exact kind of RAM to be inserted, it could fry the logic board. Making end users purchase RAM directly from OKI and sending instructions with the RAM to the end users would avoid yet another bunch of tech support calls. This is my guess, but I think it makes sense.

I would also bet that, if you purchase an HDD directly from OKI for a C6150, it would come with proper mounting brackets and screws for the two screw holes that are already present on the metal.

Indeed, on page 109 of the user manual where available options such as RAM, HDD, etc. are explained, it clearly says "Instructions for installing these options are found in the packaging with the option."

OKI c6150 with error msg 002-fatal error. please, I need a quick answer. do not have time to scroll through pages of older posts

If you printer has an additional memory card fitted then remove it (powered off of course) and turn on and see what happens. If the fatal error is still there then with the age of the machine (getting on in years) it is better to replace it as the error refers to the cpu in the control board and that's expensive on older machines to replace.

Hi we have a okidata b930n whit the " panel locked " error we can't use the panel control. thanks

Panel locked message is set to prevent changes in the unit. Your IT person probably locked it. You may need a password to remove the lock. Neither manual gives a reset method.

See page 147 in the reference manual:

How the heck do you get the side panel off Sony

From the Sony manual:
http://www.docs.sony.com/release/PCVRX670_SR.pdf

Removing the Side Cover
You must remove the side cover to access the system board, add-in cards,
power supply, battery, memory, and internal drives.
1 From the rear of the unit, pull the metal tab shown in the next
diagram. (Upper right corner)
2 Pull the top of the cover away from the unit about two inches, then
gently lift out the cover.

Printing jibberish

Hello babytenbucks,
I can help you setup your Okidata 320 printer.
Connect the printer to the printer port coming off the motherboard. Usually it's colored pink. Also known as LPT1.
If your operating system is Win XP do this. Open Control panel, open Printer & Faxes. Click File, Add new printer.
Uncheck, automatically detect & install my plug & play printer.
Click Next. Allow it to use LPT1. Click next.
There are two windows here. On the left is Manufacture on the right is Printers. Scroll through Manufacture till you find
Okidata. Under Printer, scroll down till you see Okidata ML 320 Turbo/D (IBM), click next. You can give it a new name or leave it as is. Make the 320 the default printer. You can let it print a test page. Either way re-start the system. Try another test page.
Click the link below for a .pdf file which is the manual for your
Okidata 320 Turbo.

If you do not have Adobe's pdf reader download it from the next link.

babytenbucks, if your still have any trouble please just post back & we'll get it solved.
Good day!
& please vote...
