Question about Kenmore 75051 Wall/Window Air Conditioner

1 Answer

We have an old (1988 or so?) Kenmore a/c window unit. The filter is so old, it's starting to rip & disintegrate. How can I find a replacement? (I can't see a model # anywhere). (It's approx. 18 1/4"X10 1/8". Thanks!

Will not idle but will run fine

1988 makes your truck 26 years old. There is a thousand possibilities. Where I would start is vacuum lines. They rot and start sucking air. Also check all filters and plugs/wires. PCV valve. Start with vacuum lines. 26 year old rubber is going to be the problem.

1950 poulan

Open fuel tank, pour out fuel on clean flat area (away from any flames or spark sources) then check the 2 plastic hoses inside. One should have a fuel filter on it's end. The plastic these lines are made seams to disintegrate so, filter may not be attached and lines may be broken off. Replace them.

No, don't run Coca-Cola in it! I would call a repairman immediately - you may have a rubber hose that is disintegrating, and you dishwasher could start leaking seriously!

Cannot seem to locate a replacement filter; it is the one you slide in

How old is the A/C? Alot of make units like yours become extinct so vastly that it's next to impossible to acquire replacement parts for them.

I use my kenmore single room air conditioner all night, in the morning the coils are all froze up? is that normal? The fan is working & I hear the compressor working. Maybe something is going out? it's...

Please check the filter. The filter is located behind the front grill. If there is a lot of dust & dirt on the filter, it will reduce the airflow over the coil significantly - causing freeze ups. A filter that is missing will require a thorough cleaning of the coils to remove the dust and dirt, then installing a replacement filter. There are products sold at hardware stores, home improvement centers, etc. designed specifically to clean these coils easily. You should be able to get a replacement filter for the AC from Sears.

If the filter is present and clean - there could be a problem with the refrigerant charge, or other problem. Many times, an AC units of this small size, it is cheaper to buy new than invest in repairing a 3 year old unit.

I just bought a 1988 new yorker and it has been sitting in the old guys drive way for 3 years it has 91000 miles on it said it ran perfect but he just parked it for a while and when he tried to start it up...

You'll need to charge the battery. Change the oil & filter & try a can of Wynn's friction proofing for the oil also. This will help free up the rings & any other internal engine parts. You may want to change the fuel filter also as well as checking the air filter. Put a can of injector cleaner in the gas & make sure your engine coolant is full. After starting keep an eye on the oil & temperature guages until completely warmed up. Good luck!
