Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I have a Bravia KDL 40BX421 that suddenly has green vertical lines on the bottom 1/4 of the screen. These lines are in a background bar that is mostly a reddish shade.

The green lines fade in and out covering all to just a portion of the affected area of the screen. This happens on all inputs and after unplugging the set for 2 minutes. Is this problem economically fixable? I assune it is a control board. Can I purchase it and install it myself? Thanks, Pat

You guessed it, white lines

Hi,
Does this happen with all other games? If it's just this game then maybe the game disc is damaged (try cleaning or replacing). If it's with all games then maybe the problem lies in the laser. It could have malfunctioned or simply requires a cleaning.

It is 7x3cm big, and its like dark green with bright green lines. I can see underneath it my screen, but only if i look deep.

if you can hooked up with other monitor just to ensure if the problem is only with in the monitor. after you replaced with other monitor then the display is clear or good picture, that was mean the only problem is the monitor. if the upper portion is black screen or the picture not so clear the cause is busted screen back light. to see the back light you will need to remove the back cover of the monitor. then the back light is a thin cold cathode flourescent tube, it was covered with a metal shield cover protection attached at the upper portion of the screen panel display.

Only suggestion is if set was plugged in when you did what you did--unplug it and any box or receiver plugged in and wait a while--plug back and let the equipment try to reboot.

My screen turns green and then turns off

you need to adjust the screen voltage. behind the front grille and inside cover. a small black box 6 adjusters protruding from it. only adjust the the color counterclockwise that matches the problem in this case it's the green so look for the knob with "G" marked by it. there are 2 with "g" marked by them the row across the top of the box are for focus don't adjust. back the knob off untill the raster is blank with your input set to an inactive input, the picture should be blank and black.
when it is you have the adjuster close to where it should be, now change the input to an active signal and turn the color off so that you wil have black and white picture. adjust that knob untill you do have a truely black and white picture not too green or red or blue. go back to inactive video input and check that there are no lines of any color on the screen. repeat if needed. always adjust these knobs slowly the set will be watching you ! if your autofocus won't work now you have the adjustment set too low. check this function before putting back together again. these adjustments can be real touchy so be patient

Yellow line on left side of screen-

If this is only happening on one input like your cable input and the dvd player is working great on a different input, then the issue can possibly be signal related and not a problem with the tv, if this haapens on any input you are watching, check to see if it affects the menu if it does then your looking at a Logic board issue, if it doesn't affect the menu but happens on multiple inputs then you have to replace the signal board

Green noise in black areas of picture

I'm sure you all thought of this but if someone does not state the easy fix then the easy fix doesn't get done.
I had the same thing happen to my Sam46inch1081, it just started doing it, no slow fade in over time.
I have cable with the HD box, all I did to fix it was unplug the power from the back of the hdbox, wait a few seconds plug power back in and have it reboot. Problem was solved.
Like I said, easy fix for me, don't know if this will help you, but ya never know.
Just thinking out loud here but maybe its not your tv but some other equipment you have added to it other than the hdbox.
