If its not the drain hose, you might need a valve or if you have a new garbage disposal you need to punch out a peice of the plastic or it wont drain. Hope this helped, good luck

My new Samsung dishwasher has a HORRIBLE smell

There are 2 possible explanations for this, either the dishwasher has a buildup of food particles and grease in the pipes and pumps and that is starting to decay. Get a dishwasher cleaner and run it through a cycle. You can find several different brands, Finish seems pretty popular, at your local grocery store. The other possible source of the smell is sewer gas backing up into the dishwasher. This happens because the waste water connection from the dishwasher is linked into the pipes under the sink after the P-trap. Take a look under your kitchen sink, locate the connection where the dishwasher wastewater pipe connects to the sink pipes leading to the main stack. Now follow the pipes from the sink drain down there will be a P- trap that prevents sewer gas from backing up into the house, your dishwasher connection should be between those two. If your P-trap is between the dishwasher conncetion and the sink drain then you are getting swere gas flowing into your dishwasher and this is what you are smelling. If this is the case have a licensed plumber come in and reconfigure the pipes so the P-trap is after the dishwasher connection and the smell will stop. It shouldn't take a plumber long and the parts are cheap. Hope this helps.

Frigidare dishwasher did not spin

  1. Waste Disposal/Sink trap
    • Empty your food waste disposal unit if your dishwasher's hooked up to one. If it's not empty, the old food inside it will back water up into your machine. Check that your sink trap isn't blocked by unscrewing it from the base of your sink if you don't have a food waste disposal unit. Make sure your dishwasher or any other appliances connected to it are not running when you do so.
    Incomplete Cycle
    • You may have opened your dishwasher's door mid-cycle before it's had a chance to drain. Check the progress indicator on your machine's control panel. The structure of this will differ depending on which Frigidaire model you're using, but it should show the point your machine has reached in its cycle. If this is the cause of the problem, close your dishwasher's door and let it finish.
    Drainage Pipe
    • Inspect the drain pipe that runs from your machine to your waste disposal unit or sink. If this is kinked or has been squashed under another appliance or a base unit, the waste water inside your dishwasher will be unable to escape. Check that water can flow through your waste pipe freely.
    Filter
    • Remove the bottom shelf from inside your machine and take out the plate covering the filter area. If you don't rinse your plates before you put them into your washer, food debris could block your filter and stop water from reaching your drainage pipe. You can unblock your filter with your fingers. Turn off your machine's power before you attempt to do so.

Wixl123 does not drain after washing ?

Drainage problems can be caused by:
a) Blocked Filter chamber
b) Blocked Sump
c) Blocked Drain Pipe

d) Blocked waste pipe
e) Failed Pump

You can check the sump and drain pipe are not blocked by disconnecting the drain pipe from the undersink trap or waste pipe and lowering to a bowl on the floor. The water should drain out into this bowl under gravity if there are no blockages. Bear in mind if you have disconnected the drain pipe from an undersink pipe if youpour the drained water down the sink it will flood into your undersink cupboard. If this drains then you check the waste pipe or undersink trap is clear. You should also check the filter chamber if it is accessible on your washing machine (not all are). I would recommend you unplug the machine or take the fuse out of the switched socket before doing this. Drain the drum as above before doing this or you will get a gush of water coming out. You will usually have to remove a cover from the bottom of your machine to get to the filter chamber and twist it ant-clockwise to unscrew it. Check for any coins buttons etc trapped in there. If there is nothing there check the impeller will turn relatively easily by hand. If you still can't find the problem you might have a faield pump and I would recommend contacting an enginee

I have a brand new home (only living in it for a week) and we've noticed an odor coming from our upstairs laundry room which we think is coming from the Kenmore elite he3t washer/drain. Given that its all...

It is possible that the drain hose is placed too far into the home's drain stand pipe, but I'd check to see if you have any water in the pipe trap that the washer is using for draining out. With new homes, or even houses that have been vacant for some time, is that the water in the plumbing traps can evaporate and allow sewer gases to enter into the home.

Also, since this is a brand new home, you might want to try fishing a wire into the washer drain pipe to verify that a pipe trap is installed in that wash room. Not to cast doubt, but sometimes a trap doesn't get installed during the construction phase of a house and it gets forgotten. The ony way to check for this is to see if you hit any obstruction as the pipe makes the 180 degree bent. This "trap" is what holds a small amount of water in that bend, effectively blocking/sealing the drain pipe from sewer gases, etc.

Also, I suggest you leave the door to your washer open after you've completed washing, since even a small amount of water being trapped inside the wash tub, can lead to getting moldy/mildew forming and the smell that accompanies it. We've found that by simply leaving the door ajar after washing, we've been able to avoid those nasty smells and having to use special (more expense) tablets (whirl-out) and extra washing cycles just to keep the washer clean, etc.

Hopefully the cause is simply that the drain pipe is stuffed too far into the drain and has been siphoning the residual water out of the trap and readjusting the drain hose will solve your issue.

But don't be afraid to contact your builder/seller of the house and request they verify that there is a trap installed in the wash room.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

The waste water backs up into the dishwasher when sink is plugged

Dishwasher manufacturers recommend a syphon break be fitted - but usually there is not a problem if your sink has an overflow pipe incorporated.

You have a partially blocked drain - causing wastewater to flow into the dishwasher instead.

Use 1/2 a cup of caustic soda or proprietary drain cleaner down the sink drain. Add about a pint of water, and leave overnight.
Next morning pour a full boiling kettle down the drain which should move things on and clear the drain.
You may have to repeat this process once, but is preferable to taking your pipework apart - which is next if this does not clear it.

Had a similar problem (flashing lights 1 and 2). Drained the machine by diconnecting the outlet hose and using a shallow bowl on the floor. Removed and cleaned filters. Forced clean water through by using a garden hose pipe(you can only do this one way, you cannot force water down the outlet pipe). Removed and cleaned the pump (you have to do this from under the machine but easy enough). Finally ensuring the waste trap under the sink was clear. Bingo!! No parts, no expensive engineer.

Neff Dishwasher won't drain

I've had this problem a couple of times with my dishwasher. In both cases, the cause was a shard of broken glass that had managed to get past the filters and jam itself underneath the impellor. Hard to see, but easy to fix. First ladle out the water.
Pull off the lower rotor arm, unscrew the filter and take out the filter bowl, tray and cylindrical filter. Get as much water as you can out of the filter cavity.
Then, using a Torx-20 driver, remove the screw holding the impellor cover and lift the cover off. (this is the small bit of plastic at the left end of the filter cavity.) Check whether the impellor can rotate freely by spinning it with your finger several times - if it jams or grinds, then there's probably something jammed under it. (It may seem to be fine at first, so do check thoroughly, as any debris can move around with the water flow and only jam occasionally) You may have to use a cocktail stick or similar to poke out anything that's stuck underneath.
Glass is a particular problem, since it's almost impossible to see when there's any water around (it's easy to cut yourself too!)

Anyway, that's worked twice for me now - and I didn't have to even move the machine out of its cupboard to fix it.
Hope that helps.

the waste water piping must be on the downhill side of a drain trap. the trap prevents bad gasses from entering the house.
