Many computers nowadays come with a recovery disk creation utility that you can access from the start menu. They seem to think that this saves the time and money of supplying you with the actual disks. Look for that utility and make your own recovery disks.
If your system is already trashed and doesn't work, you'll have to request a recovery disk from Acer. Or you can get a Windows disk from someone who is using the same O/S and use that to reinstall. You can use your product code that is on the computer case to make this work. Problem is, you'll have to go online and get drivers to make the whole thing work.

I have acer aspire one D250-0BK notebook which came with pre installed window XP, I then formatted the hard disk and installed window 7 since then my webcam does not work please help.

Hi,

You can reinstall the sound drivers from the Acer recovery management, to do so:
Start Menu> All Programs> Acer erecovery management> Restore> Restore Application & Drivers> Contents> Select Acer Crystal Eye Web Cam and install it

OR

Got to http://gd.panam.acer.com/home/
Select the computer model
Select Operating System installed on your computer
Click Drivers
Select WebCam (Acer Crystal Eye) and download it.
Once downloaded, install it on your computer.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

Hav a virus how can i reboot computer as it did not come with a disk

Some computers have a "hidden" part of the disk-drive, and this part contains all the files necessary to "reinstall" Microsoft Windows. Does your computer have a "hidden" partition?

Or, does the pre-installed software on your computer have an option for you to "burn" a few CD/DVD recordable disks, to create a "system recovery" set of disks? If so, run that utility software.
Then, use the disks to reinstall Windows.

I need to know what you do at start up to reinstall windows without a disk, to reinstall factory settings?

You can run the system restore, this will lose all your data and reinstall your operating system with the bare essentials and default settings. You will lose all your programs however so beware, i'd still run de-crappifier when completed and install coolbits to aid in registry speed.

I have a Asus pentium4 desktop it calling for a recovery disk, the screen comes up system 32 put recover disk which I don't have.

The disk-drive that is storing your copy of Windows has died.

So, when you turn the computer on, the disk-drive cannot be accessed, and Windows cannot be loaded, and so your computer displays that "please insert recovery disk" message.

Minimally, you need to buy a new disk-drive, install it, order a new set of "system recovery" CD/DVD disks from ACER, and reinstall Windows.

It might be time for you to buy a brand-new computer, which will be faster, and will run Windows 7.
Your existing keyboard/mouse/monitor/printer devices can be used -- you can buy a "bare" system, with Windows 7 pre-installed, and save some money (over buying brand-new "everything").

Purchase computer 3 yrs ago with Vista. Turn on computer today and black screen with This copy is not geniune in bottom right corner. Need confirmation ID but no one at Acer or Microsoft will help me...

Several possibilities:
1. a computer-virus is displaying that message.
2. Windows itself has messed-up, i.e., _falsely_ issuing the message, for no good reason;
3. somebody installed a "bootleg" copy of Vista.

Look on the bottom of the laptop.
Is there a genuine Microsoft sticker, indicating that the computer was shipped with Vista (or XP???) pre-installed? Is there a 25-character product-key?

If you have the original "System Restore" set of CD-ROMs that were factory-shipped with the computer, then backup your data (to an external disk-drive), and reinstall Windows, using that product-key on the sticker.

If you don't have those CD-ROMs, ACER will courier-ship you a replacement set ($20 plus shipping).

So, in brief, backup/reinstall/restore.

I need to reinstall my computer without deleteing any files

Insert the Windows CD and follow the steps until you see to Repair press "R" this will repair windows files only without affecting your stored files.

Another option, if you already installed Windows and need to restore your files, use third party software.

I want to restore my Acer Aspire M1100 desktop computer back to factory settings. I have the disks from Acer, one is a System Disk and one is a Recovery Disk. Is there any way to restore/reinstall Vista...

Hello,

If you used the restore disk on your computer it will erase all files, and all your programs. the restore Factory settings means "ALL" settings the time you created the CD for the restore.

If you have an individual Vista Installer CD with the Serial you can use it and use restore option.

Thank you for using Fixya
Hope this helps.

Can i reset my computer with out a cd ?

The actual 100% correct answer is: yes.

You could use a DVD instead... or many other elaborate methods (that i've had to use over the years) including:

*Booting from a DOS disk and installing Windows from another hard disk pre-loaded with the i386 directory from a Windows CD.

*Booting from a DOS disk with USB CDROM support.

*RIS - Remote Installation Services hosted from a Windows Server box, with a client PC supporting a PXE bootrom on it's network card

But all these other solutions require you to have access to a Windows CD. If you want to reinstall Windows, you need a Windows CD or your manufacturer's recovery CD. Without that, the process cannot begin.
