Question about Sport & Outdoor - Others

I have a 2005 FX, it has been in the water a couple of weeks - kept on a jet ski dry dock. It was running well all weekend then when I pushed it into the water it idled fine and pushed water through the back but when I tried to accelrate the RPM's would increase but there was no power and it vibrated substantially. I could barely get enough power to get it back on the dry dock. Any thoughts?

You were exactly right, a piece of rope had been sucked into the impeler - got it out but broke the plate covering it so I need a replacement part still. Thanks for your help!!

Try draining the gas out of the tank and replace with new gas, there may be water in the system you can also run about 3 ounches of dry gas through the system along with a full tank of gas after draining the tank. A good way to see if there is water in the gas is to drain the gas into a semi clear container and look to see if there is water present, if it is present it will settle to the bottom of the container and be clearly visible. P.S. I may have misunderstood you description, if you said that you can rev it up but you get no acceleration the problem is in the hydrojet pump look under to see if there is any thing such as a length of rope that has been sucked into the intake water port if so you must clear out obstruction in the worst case scenario the shear pin is broke and you must disassemble to service impellar shesr pin.

2004 waverunner fx cruiser, ran great last time out. Now hard to start and wont run on high speed. Nothing over 6 mph.

How old is the fuel? Ethanol causes major problems if left too long. You may need to empty the fuel and clean out the fuel system. Try changing the fuel filter and adding some seafoam to the fuel and running seafoam thru the fuel system. Hopoe this helps.

How do i add wireless remote control switches to a wired lift on my jet skis? The box is affixed to the dock.

There are a lot of variables involved with doing a wireless controller for something that's not designed to have one. Why not water proof the control box and put it on an adjustable mount? Something like a retractable extension cord that you can raise and lower as needed?

How to maintain my jet ski?

If you plan to store a jet ski in a garage, you will need to make sure it is dry and cool and with limited exposure to the sun. In general, you need to do what you can to prevent rust and other grime that eventually may cause mechanical issues.

Washing your jet ski is also needed after every use. You can use your car wash products. I also suggest to read the user's manual, it may include tips about maintaining your jet ski.

You can protect the engine with a special spray and water repellant.

If you plan to store your jet ski for a while, it is preferred that you will disconnect the battery.

Jet ski wont crank

test voltage at the starter while pushing start button. its also possible that the factory ignition kill is activated, try holding up the lanyard button and repeatadly hit the start button if the alarm is engaged then you should hear the starter barely kick every couple of seconds so then just unlock it. and last and certainly the most common, starter solenoid, they go bad all the time. be sure to check your fuses first though.

I have a Yamaha FX Cruiser HO (2010). The jet ski died in the water on me last week. I determined it to be a fuse. Replaced the fuse with the extra one and it burned out again. Any suggestions?

No Spark to a 1994-1995 Polaris SL Jet ski

first have you done what is necessary for that such as draining the oil (unless it's a two stroke) draining the gas and refiling it with fresh gas and a couple bottles of gas line antifreeze (it sucks up water) ... for the electrical parts ... spray them with wd40... that will force out any moisture at all and oil does not conduct electricity.
