did you charge it for 24hrs prior to using it? usually when you purchase a new laptop the battery has 10% life and its recommended that you charge it for 24hrs before using it so that the battery has a chance to break in.

if that doesen't work then i would suggest that you use your warranty that you got and get a new battery because you did buy it right?
