Question about HP Photosmart C6180 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Won't accept new ink cartridge

I've change the yellow cartridge 3 times, thinking it was defective, and it still says "replace cartridge". I've reset the printer with HP's help, but still nothing. I've cleaned the contacts as instructed by a local computer guy. I really don't want to buy a new printer - or course this on is just out of warranty. Any ideas?

I had this happen with my Canon and even though it was a Canon brand ink it wouldn't accept it so I just went out and bought a new one and it worked fine. You know they're now making them to not accept anything but their expensive brands.

Look inside where the ink goes, there is a spring on the right side, if it comes out of place it can cut the ribbon cable at the rear. If thats the case, you need a new printer.

Printer not accepting new black ink cartridge


put that cartridge in and perform a head cleaning process, and allignment... follow the procedure (2 or 3 times if needed) and in the end, shut down the printer, disconnect usb cable (both end), then wait for some time, aprox. 20 sec. and then put both end in again, turn printer on and wait for ready signal or some sort of confirmation that all is ok... If not, replace or update the printer driver and software, or reinstall all printer software.

Hp office jet 5610 wont print colors correctly


Some printer software that detect ink levels won't recognize a cartridge that's been refilled. They treat the cartridge as empty although you've filled them with ink. You can try removing the HP software that pertains to the printing functions only (not the scanner abilities). You can also do a Power reset. Remove the printer cartridges, turn off the power, remove both the Power cord and USB cord (if applicable) for 10 minutes. After reconnecting the USB and power cords, install the cartridges as you normally would. The printer should treat them as new.

The black ink on my Brother DCP-130C won't print and it's a brand new ink cartridge. I thought it was a defected cartridge so I bought another one, same thing. The other 3 colours print ok though....


I have the same problem. Everything on the printer is working just fine. It'll do a test page just fine, so everything's working right. The %$^ thing just won't print. It makes noise like it's printing when you give it a print job, but it spits out blank pages.

Printer will not accept new cartridges. Printer is new and wants original cartridges to initialize ink system. Original cartridges are not availible. Tryed reset but did not work.


HP printers will not accept refilled cartridges. Are you trying to replace your empty cartridges with refilled cartridges? There is a computer chip in the ink cartridge that tells the printer when it is out of ink. If you try and refill it yourself, the printer will not recognize that it has been refilled without replacing the computer chip in it.

I think your printer is telling you that it needs HP brand cartridges that are original and not refilled cartridges. There is no way to "reset" an hp printer to get it to use an off brand or refilled cartridge that has not had the chip changed.

You can pick up a good refilled cartridge at a professional company who knows about changing the chip for less then a third of the regular price of an HP cartridge in a department store. However, HP does not want you to use refilled cartridges and should something go wrong with your computer and they find out that you were using them they will void your warranty on your printer.

If you are not trying to replace HP brand cartridges with refilled or off brand versions, I suggest your return them to where you bought them and exchange them. They may be defective cartridges.

How do I change the toner?


The Fax-2480c does not use toner cartridges.
This is an inkjet and so uses ink cartridges.

There are 4 cartridges, black, yellow, cyan (blue) and magenta (red). If any of these cartridges are empty, you need replace them.

This machine takes LC-51 cartridges.
You're probably out of warranty so jsut get refills... it's cheaper

HP will not recognise new cartridge


The problem you are describing with the yellow cartridge sounds like ink starvation possibly due to a clogged print head or an air bubble in the print head. Since the machine is so new I would contact HP to get the print head replaced. As for the magenta cartridge, exchanging it for a new one at the store you bought it from should fix the problem. It sounds like the chip on the one you have is either damaged or wasn't set to read full ink levels.

Hi, since you've already replace the yellow ink cartridge for several times and its not recognize. Your printer might have a defective printhead. You may take your printer to the nearest HP service center in your area so that they can look on your printer further.

i do not need a technical solution- all i need is how can i get a new yellow lc41y ink cartridge to replace a defective one
can i exchange the cartridge for a new one or
can i buy only a yellow cartridge
if neither i will have to buy another package and am stuck with defective yellow cartridge

i bought a package of 3 colors necessary to print in black- yellow wouldn't take - luckily i always have an extra package so i replaced the yellow and my printer works
but my extra package is now short a yellow cartridge-

my problem is outside the box - thanks anyway

If yes try another cart (always best: original brother carts)
