Son purchased yearly Gold membership thinking two players could use it second player not able to use. Why?

Hi. Your son most likely bought the Gold membership to XBOX Live thinking that it was an XBOX Live Gold Family Pack. A single Gold membership costs $59.99 USD. An XBOX Live Gold Family Pack costs $99.99 USD. With the family pack, you get four 12-month Xbox LIVE Gold memberships for less than the price of two. Two players cannot use a single Gold membership, but if they play on the same console, then two players could share one membership. Also, certain games, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops and Halo:Reach allow players to play online multiplayer games together with one "guest" player at the same time, on the same TV. I hope this cleared everything up.

Son bought Gold membership when a special price of $39.99 was offered thinking it was a family membership

Hi. Microsoft will give existing Xbox LIVE Gold members a prorated discount on the purchase of a Family Pack. For each month remaining on your current Xbox LIVE Gold subscription, Microsoft will reduce the purchase price of a Family Pack by $5. For example, if you have six months of your Gold subscription remaining, you qualify for a $30 discount and will only be charged $69.99 at the time of purchase. If you have 20 months or more of your current Xbox LIVE Gold subscription remaining, you can upgrade to an Xbox LIVE Gold Family Pack for free. You will not receive a refund for any remaining subscription time in excess of 20 months. I hope this helps!

My friend brought over his memory pack and disconnected mine but when it came time to attach mine my avatar wasn't there and when i tried to go customize it a warning sign popped up and said you need to...

It is a compulsary update for your Xbox 360 system so it can support the feature you are trying to do. So you really might want to join to Xbox Live by creating an Xbox Live account and by signing in to Xbox Live, it will automatically install the latest firmware to update your system.

Do u have to pay to go online on the xbox 360

Hello there.

On the Xbox 360, you'll have two choices of service level: Xbox Live Silver and Xbox Live Gold. Xbox Live Silver will offer limited Xbox Live functionality at no cost, while the Gold package will be a fully functional pay service.

The Xbox Live Silver service means you can connect your Xbox 360 console to a broadband Internet connection and get functionality right out of the box without having to pay any amount of money.

With Xbox Live Silver you can:
  • Create an online Gamer Profile
  • Access the Xbox Live Marketplace
  • Engage in voice and text messaging
  • Talk to a single friend at a time using voice chat
  • Receive video messages from Gold level members
  • Access massively multiplayer online games (additional fees may apply)
The Xbox Live Gold is similar to the current paid Xbox Live service. The Xbox Live Gold service delivers the complete online connection package. With Xbox Live Gold you have all the features of Silver level, and additionally:

  • Play multiplayer games online
  • Video chat
  • Multiplayer online tournaments
  • Participate in Xbox Live online programming, such as Game with Fame, Play and Win, and Prime Time activities.
Hope this clarifies things for you.
