Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I have notebook Compaq 6715b with Windows XP (no SP2). Sound doesnt work. drivers from HP official site not working

Hello,

trust me, the fault is from the win xp SP2. I am saying this with confidence and out of experience. Except if the audio drivers you downloaded is for win vista.

While running the Win xp, some files make have skipped/not installed which is making the sound not to work. Or maybe you have initially installed a wrong audio driver.

To solve this problem. you have to re-run the win xp, if possible, use another xp Cd, maybe not Sp2.

After installation, let the audio driver be the fist thing you install.

Take care.

No sound

I have seen SP2 fix many issues like that. Do you have SP2 installed for XP? That you know of?

SP3 may help as well. I would suggest performing all updates and then trying any driver installs that are needed after that.

G'luck

Keyboard Not responding

Firstly your keyboard and sound driver may need to be re-installed using your original HP installation/driver disc or from the HP web site. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=395749&lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=395747&taskId=135 Windows XP has probably loaded generic drivers when installed which are'nt always compatable, especially for assigned keys. Also go to your speaker icon on the right corner of your task bar(right click then properties) and check that the volume cursors are set correctly.
