Question about Nintendo Game Boy Advance Console

1 Answer

My son's leapster L-Max turns on by itself.

We have to take the batteries out to turn it off. Whe you hit the power button it turns off, but within a few seconds it turns on again. Anybody have this problem?

This may sound ghetto, but take a q tip/cotton swab and get it slightly damp with rubbing alcohol. enough so that one single drop could run off. let that drop run over the power button, then press the power button pretty hard a few times. sounds like some food or some sort of foreign substance could have gotten around the edge of the button, tricking the console into thinking that you're pressing it, when really, it's just sticky.

My son's Leapster Explorer suddenly has no sound. If you hit the increase sound button, nothing happens. If you hit the decrease button you see the volume bar on the bottom of the page. Do you know...

I had same problem, just fixed it by a little hack. The volume up switch is broken.
1. Remove accessory door on bottom. 2. Remove all screws on back. 3. Open back cover.
Looking at the exposed board, there are 2 volume switches (back to back). Directly next the switches are four contacts: the upper 2 are for volume down, the lower 2 are for volume up.
4. Place the battery pack on the board and hold it down. 5. Press the power button to turn on the unit. 6. Use a small wire to jump the volume up contacts multiple times to change the volume to maximum (or desired level). 7. (Optional) Remove the volume buttons and throw away the rubber cushions to prevent the volume from changing. 8. Replace everything back in place.

Leapster2 is 2 1/2 years old. Placed brand new batteries in Leapster2. Try to power it on, screen comes up like it is going to turn on, and it turns off.

Welcome to FixYa!

Ensure NO GAME is in unit
Power Unit off
While turning Leapster 2 on, hold down HINT KEY. (Key in middle with question mark on left hand side)

Once unit switches to other menu, Hit A to begin calibrating.
Follow prompts with Sylas pen to reprogram Stylus pen.
Once you are done it will return to original Calibrating Menu.
Power Unit off Turn unit on with game inserted. Stylus pen should respond.

1) Ensure that a cartridge is not inserted

2) Hold down the Hint (?) button while turning the unit on. Continue to hold the Hint button down until the LEAPSTER menu appears. 3) When the LEAPSTER menu screen appears, press the A button 4) Touch each of the crosshairs that appear with the stylus 5) Restart unit

Do comment if it helped or not in any manner ill know.

My leapster does not respond when touched, what can I do to fix that?

It needs Calibrated! Very easy to do. Push and hold the "?" while turning it on. Let go of the power button but keep the "?" held down. It will bring you to a screen and on the upper right side you will see a blue "Calibrate" option so press A. Then with the pen just hit the "x"'s you will see appear. After that's done restart your leapster by pressing and holding down the power button. Leapster will turn off and then release the power button after it's off and it will automatically turn back on. Problem will be fixed!

Leapster got wet, no longer reacting to stylus prompts

Did you try to recallibrate it? Hold the "hint" button down while you're turning it on. Then hit "A" when the new screen comes up. You'll touch all four corners and the center with the stylus. See if it works!

Mine was doing the same thing. Solutions is taking out the SD card. Worked after that. My wife had downloaded something new on it and that is when it started.

Leapster 2 Doesn't Recognize Stylus

Hold the hint button (question mark) when turning on the device. When the device turns on, do the stylus calibration and touch each of the crosshairs that shows up. After you are finished restart the leapster and you should be fine.
