Most manufacturer's reserve a small partition on the stock hard drive for returning the PC to factory state. When booting the PC, an option should show "repair your computer" or something along those lines. Try pushing either F12 or F8 when booting to bring up this menu.

Looks like you need to install Windows from scratch. You need a Windows installation CD and the product installation code.
After Windows is installed you need to install the Acer Aspire 1650 device drivers. If you cannot connect to the Internet then you need a computer that has Internet access to download the device drivers and install them on your Acer.

Download the device drivers from the Acer WEB site. Makesure you select the model of your laptop the drivers you that require thatmatches the Windows version that is installed on your laptop. Use this link toget to the Acer support: -

How do i restart my acer aspire 5290 laptop back to factory settings. it has a virus and i want to delete it all back to factory settings

You need to reformat your laptop then reinstall everything. When doing this, you need:

  1. You OS Installer (Windows needs a valid CD-key)
  2. Motherboard Installer (This CD/DVD Installer is usually shipped with your laptop when you bought it. This CD contains all the required drivers to make your laptop works perfectly back to its original state.
  3. If all these installers are ready, insert the Windows CD installer and restart your system.
  4. It will start a setup program on DOS mode. Just follow the on-screen instructions. Make sure that you "Delete" the existing partitions and "recreate" them. It will then format the drive and start the installation.
WARNING: Formatting your drive will delete all your personal files as well. Make sure that you back up all necessary files before doing these steps.

It is basically frozen up with virus's. How do I just wipe out everything and start from scratch?

You can use the OS installation disc or recovery disc if your computer has one. Insert the disc and re-boot the computer. It should ask you to boot from cd-rom and to press any key. If it does not then you will need to go into the BIOS of the computer and change the boot sequence to cd-rom first. Then when you get the disc to boot do a new installation. This will erase the drive and install the operating system fresh. You will then need to install all of the drivers for the laptop and software. If you have a recovery disc then it should bring it back to the factory state and will have the drivers and software on the disc also. Remember to back-up any pictures or files you do not want to lose if you can. Let me know if you have questions or problems.

How do i restore my dell inspiron 1501 to factory settings without the disc? i lost it and im goin nuts...

Contact Dell to purchase a Recovery CD for your model Dell laptop.
The other way is to do a new Windows install. Use a Windows installation CD, it must match the Windows version on the Windows Product Code label on the bottom of your laptop.
You will also need to download the device drivers for your model laptop from the Dell WEB support site, make sure the download the correct XP or Vista version of the drivers that match the Windows version you are installing.

I want to restore my Satellite Pro L310

Hi herteg63,

It seems as though your recovery partition on your laptop has been deleted/corrupted. You can order replacement DVDs to restore your laptop with all of the acer software. Here is the link to the site:

https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

It is also possible to install windows manually with the CD key on the sticker on the bottom of the laptop, if you happen to have Windows OEM CD with the correct service pack. You would need to download and install all of the drivers from the Toshiba website.

You could also bring it to a local PC shop and see if they could do that for you.

In the end ordering the CDs may be the easiest way.

I hope this helps,
Adam.
