It means that the computer can't find the hard drive portion that starts the computer into OS X. It usually indicates a dead hard drive, though sometimes it can be fixed by running your OS X install disk and using the repair function on it. If you don't feel comfortable doing this, find a good repair tech on Craigslist or through your local search.

Macbook stuck on load up screen

When you say "load up screen", I assume you mean the Apple boot screen (it has the apple on a gray background).

You might try resetting the PRAM on the macbook.
You can do this by pressing and holding the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.

So, turn the macbook completely off. Turn it on and immediately press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys until the computer reboots and chimes. Once it chimes, release the keys. Your system should boot normally.

When open my macbook air it take command automatically & when i click in the upper maneuver it take command continuously non-stoply & create a sound

Hi
hope you have fixed the problem by now.
If not try resetting the "p-ram"
Turn on your Mac and immediately press and hold the Option-Command-P-R keys. You must press the keys before the gray screen appears. Continue to hold the keys until the computer restarts, and you hear the startup sound a second time.
Hope this helps

Hello, since yesterday my macbook pro is frozen, just don't know how to fix it! My macbook pro was frozen with the apple and grey screen, showing timeclock, so this morning i restarted it with the power...

Take the 2 RAM chips out and make sure they are compatible with your computer and make sure the RAM chips are not broke or defective. Re-insert new RAM chips and make sure they are firmly inserted in their bays. Also, install disc 1 of your 2 disc gray set and hold down C key to boot from disc. Then click on tab for install English. Then go to the top of the screen to utilities and click on disk utility. Now on the left side of screen select your hard drive and then at bottom middle of screen select repair disc. Then when that's done select repair hard drive. Now quit the disc and choose restart from hard drive. See if that don't help ya any. Also, could be bad boot sector in which you will have to save all your data and re-install the operating system. If that don't work, then look into getting a new hard drive and then re-install the operating system. Take your computer into the Apple store and have the Apple dorks look into it if your still under warranty, because you just dropped down some serious cash on this machine.

Gray splotch on lcd screen on a macbook pro 13-inch

That is most likely a defect in the LCD itself... there was a huge issue with this on the older PowerBook series - like shown in this picture, 3 roughly dime-sized circles to the right of the Apple logo. If you need a place to mail it to, iResQ has done wonders for many of my friends - link is for mail-in, but they sell the screen itself as well if you want to try on your own (but take it from me, it's a bit troublesome and easy to mess up cables - I repair these for a living). Hope this helps!

At start up, the screen freezes, white with a gray apple insignia, and a timer that never stops

Hello I agree with benwabnick, I would also try to repair disk permissions and volume using the disk utility tool that is on the install DVD (hold the C key to boot from DVD, then choose english language, go to utilities, and choose disk utility).

Completely white/gray screen

your hard drive has most likely crashed.  this happened to my buddies macbook and it was $300 for a new hard drive, hopefully you still have a warranty on your mac, that way apple will cover the price.  take it in to apple and have them diagnose the problem.  my buddy was lucky bc apple covered the cost, if they refuse just be pushy and theyll eventually do it for you, im sorry

Completely white/gray screen

First try this: shut it down, disconnect the power cord, pull out the battery, then hold the power button for a full 10 seconds. Reinstall the battery, reattach the power cord, turn it back on.
Still doing it? Put the reboot disk that your Mac came with, or the disk to the version of Mac OS X that you're running.
To start from disk hold "C" as your Mac is first turning on from a complete shutdown.
