Question about Mach Speed Viper K8M8MS Motherboard

1 Answer

AGP Problem? I recently acquired a used computer from a friend with the Mach Speed K8M8MS mobo, reformatted the hard drive and installed Windows XP. I also have a brand new MSI NX6200 TD256H video card to go with it. To test the card, I started playing Day of Defeat, and it works well except for one major problem: After a little while of gameplay (5 or 10 minutes), the graphics totally mess up and it becomes impossible to do anything except open the task manager and end the process. I'm pretty sure there is no problem with the card itself, as I have tried using three other older cards. I suspect a problem with the AGP slot or AGP driver. I have also tried reinstalling the game. As for Windows, other than the game and the drivers, I have a fresh install. If you suggest updating any drivers, I would appreciate it if you told me exactly where they were. I've installed some, and I'm 98% sure they are the correct ones (got them from But even though it's not probable, I still could be wrong. So yeah, I don't know if this is a bad mobo or what. Please help.

Re: AGP Problem?

You might want to try uninstalling net.frameworks 2.0 (or new versions) restart, then uninstall your graphic drivers restart, then install your net.framework first then install your graphic drivers.
NOTE: make sure your net.framework is the most recent one i think its 3.0 (make sure its updated by internet explorer > tools > windows update) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your graphics card (which you do).

Everytime i try to turn on my computer it beeps continuously i just installed new ram and a graphics card took them out put original back in and still does it.

The particular issue of beeping continuously is the RAM you need to check if the RAM is correctly installed. Make sure that the RAM you have install are compatible to you RAM slot. It will cause continues beeping and will not display the monitor.

Another thing you should check is the graphics card. Check this also if it is correctly installed. Install also the graphics card installer.

Replaced soyo mobo with pc chips m848, now windows won't load

I just put a PC Chips mobo in my computer.  You need to reinstall Windows.  Windows is still trying to loa dthe drivers for your old motherboard and is running into brick walls.  So it will not load.  If there is data on that hard drive that you absolutely must have and can not replace, bring it to a friends house and make a backup.  Then reinstall windows, then trasfer back over the files.  I am aware of the fact that you can "restore" windows without losing the files.  However this option still has currupted filed to the point they are non-readable for me and many other users.  Other than that, buy another small hard drive, install windows to it.  After that is done, all you have to do is hook up your other hard drive as a secondary hard drive and run the both of them in your computer.

Unable to install XP sp2 on Intel D865GBF Motherboard

Maybe having trouble with a device, remove any pci or agp cards and usb devices, use built-in video until installed.

Set bios to defaults, make sure bios is latest version.

I have found this happens with a promise ultra-100tx2 and any nvidia video card.

May be a bad install cd, if you can boot it with a dos or win98 disk/CD, copy xp i386 folder to hard drive install from i386 folder on hdd by running winnt.exe

I have installed xpsp2 on about 10 d865gbf's and 2 days ago installed xp sp3 on one with no problems. may also be bad mobo.

Windows xp does not continue to start up

Hi if you hear knocking noise from the hard disk then it has conked off - as for the data there are service agents who claim to retrieve even from bad hard disks - search for them on the net .

Mach speed motherboard problem

I had the same problem once. I took it to CompUSA to have them diagnose the problem, and they said I fried the motherboard or CPU. The fans turn on just because your power supply is on.

AGP cant work and Memory issues

Are you certain that your AGP card is 4x or 8x? It seems that is the only kind this one supports. Not sure what the 2 beeps mean in post but it obviously doesn't like your AGP card. Report this info to MB customer support. There do not appear to be any jumpers to manually disable on-board AGP as it is done through BIOS settings only. Also, you might want to first install the AGP drivers using the onboard gfx and then install the Gfx card. As for the memory, I have no idea. Perhaps you could contact the manufacturer or return the MB to fry's for a replacement?
