Question about Jenn-Air JXT5830AD Kitchen Hood

Open Question

Switch/Controller Problem Odd problem and with the price of the control board being $235 and the switch only $58 I need to find out which one is bad: Each switch for the fan and light work fine through all settings (fan; hight, med, low and light bright and dim) IF SWITCHED ON ALONE but if I have the light on and try to turn on the fan (which defaults to MED/pos2) the light will remain on but the fan will make a slight noise then be silent. If with the light still on, then switch the fan to LOW/pos1 or HIGH/pos3 the fan will turn on and the light will stay on and it works fine. If I turn on the FAN first then the light, no matter what teh fan setting, will only do on at the Dim0nightlight setting! I was told that not only does the unit have the centrally mounted Electronic Control Board but the switch assembly also has a circuit board in it so I am unsure how to proceed. I cannot find any troubleshooting guide/test parameters for this unit anywhere and Whirlpool/Jenn-Air were no help. As a side note, the parts guy says that, yes, the front mounted switch assembly is only $58 BUT that the "ribbon Connecttor" can NOT be reused then tells me that the short piece of cheap ribbon is over $300! I gathered after he checked a bit that that price gets you the ENTIRE wiring harness???? WHy can I NOT reuse the ribbon connector? on computer obards one can trim off the penetrated section and reuse it. ANY help will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!! Doug

When turned on right hand display comes up with 51 then flashes with the number 68. Dead man button works but not any of the controls. Alex

If the console takesbatteries, replace them. If this does not work or your console does not requirebatteries, check the reed switch or optic sensor. Reed Switch:Unplug the treadmill and remove the motor hood cover. The reed switch is mountedon the frame next to the front roller pulley. There is a magnet glued into thefront roller pulley. When adjusting the reed switch, make sure it is pointingdirectly at the magnet. Move the tip of the reed switch within 1/8" of themagnet. Also, check to see that the wire is not damaged, and is connected tothe console. 11_30_2011_12_46_08_am.gif
Try to tight the keypanel flexible cable vs Display Board and then tight the connector from display board vs Main controller board(lower board) and will be a good idea spray with contact cleaner the keypanel with carefully and patience.

Finally you will have 2 options if the problem persist: 1) display board faulty or 2) main controller board faulty. See. the block diagram how the main controller board has 90% of function in any treadmills.

I have Lionel Fastrack 048 switch. I extended the controller wire and all of my slices are perfect. The switch operates but the light in the controller does not operate - neither red or green. I checked...

You will need to check continuity of the yellow RSC wire from inside the controller to where it enters the switch connection block. Neither light will work if this wire is broken.

2nd: Lionel quality control is so poor that if that is not the problem, remove the plate from the bottom and make sure the five plugs are firmly in place on the electronic board. Since both green and red do not work it is most likely not the micro switchs but an issue with the circuit board.

We've a Ricoh MP3500 that is displaying an error code SC672 and directs us to switch the main power and switch back on. When switched back on, we have the same error code. Advice?

sc672 is a communication error between the controller board and some other component. Did you switch the machine off using the orange power switch on the lower left side, or just the power button on the operation panel?

With the power completely off and the machine unplugged, pull the controller board out by removing the two screws holding it in on the rear left side of the machine. (It should slide right out the side.) Check all of the connections on the board and make sure everything is sitting securely, then reinstall the controller board.

Worst case scenario, you might have a bad memory stick, bad controller board, or another bad circuit board, but more than likely there is a connector somewhere that just needs to be set securely. You can also remove the operation panel (two screws on the top of the panel and possibly two screws underneath it as well) and check the harness that connects the op panel board to the machine.

How do i take a shure ur2 apart to replace the switch?

It is very easy to damage the element in these, and it is expensive to replace.

Look for guts to come out the bottom end. I can't imagine why you would be changing the circuit board, How do you know there is a problem with the circuit board?

Some of these have a label over the switch that has screws underneath. When replacing the element they give you new labels as one destroys them when you remove the label to get at the screws underneath.

Commercial generator 20kv not working properly

Troubleshoot like this:
1 - With the generator control in Auto, jumper from terminal 3 to 4 on the control board. Generator should start without transfer switch doing anything. If it won't you have a bad controller board.

2 - If the Generator started, remove the jumper - controller is OK. Next go to the 1st transfer switch and find the remote start terminals. These will be the same wires that were connected to controller terminals 3 and 4 at the generator. Use your jumper wire to connect them and see if the generator starts, if not there is something wrong between the switch and the generator, probably a broken wire.

3 - Don't forget to check the other switch, the remote start terminals of the switches connect in parallel across controller terminals 3 and 4 so that either switch can start the generator.

4 - Each switch should have some sort of a test button/switch, power down as much of the building as you can, then run the test function of each switch one at a time. Don't stand directly in front of the switch while you do this.
