One option is to disable autoplay on the drive.
You could also uninstall the drive, restart Windows and let it reinstall the drivers.
Update the drivers by opening "My computer", right clicking the drive, clicking "Properties", selecting the "Hardware" tab, clicking "Properties" again, select the "Driver" tab and select "Update Driver".
Seems like a lot, but it isn't.
In most cases it's not the OS, but the DVD drive itself.
Luckily for you, the drives range from 50-80 dollars now. On top of that they can burn cd's and dvd's.

Hi

It sounds like the drive has a mechanical problem, take it to a local professional or just replace the drive, the drive costs 20usd as new, so you dont want to waste much time on it.

www.newegg.com sells them for 20 usd.

If your handy with a screw driver, you could take it apart and inspect it to see why the disc is being ejected.

I want to reformat PB MS2303

Packard Bell is a computer manufacturer, now owned by Acer. Restoring your computer will erase the hard drive and install a fresh copy of Microsoft Windows. This is beneficial if the Packard Bell is showing its age and running extremely slow or has been hit with an incurable virus infection. Before attempting to restore the system, be sure to back up any data you wish to save.

1.Insert the Windows Setup CD/DVD into the computer's optical drive. The disc will have been included with the Packard Bell computer.

2.Restart the computer with the disc inserted. A black screen will appear when the disc is detected, displaying "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD..." Press any key on the keyboard to launch the Windows installer. The "Install Windows" screen will appear.

3.Click "Next."

4.Select "I accept the license terms" and click "Next."

5.Click "Custom" when asked what type of installation you'd like. The other option is "Upgrade," but in order to restore your Packard Bell system to its factory settings, you must reformat the hard drive.

6.Click "Drive Options" when asked where to install Windows. Select the C: drive and click "Erase." Select the unallocated space after it has been erased, and click "Format." Format the space using the "NTFS" file system.

7.Click "Next" and Windows will begin reinstalling on the Packard Bell's hard drive. The system will reboot when finished and launch into your newly restored Packard Bell.

I have a Packard Bell Imedia desktop not sure of the model. It was working fine until recently, I switched on my pc and after the boot screen "NTLDR is missing Alt Ctrl Del" message appeared....

Remove the hard disk and attach it to an USB hard drive adapter and then connect it into the USB port of a working computer. This computer will detect the hard drive as an external storage device, then you can open the various folders and files to copy your files to this computer or burn your data to a CD/DVD disc or USB flash drive.
Return you hard disk back to your Packard Bell so you can reinstall Windows.

DVD drive can't be opened before windows is loaded

Michael, put the disk in your optical drive tray.

Now press the CTRL key, ALT key, and DElete key AT THE SAME TIME. (Not shouting)

Pressing these three keys at the same time, will make your computer restart. Now it will boot from the disk.

IF, by chance this does not work, let me know, and I'll walk you through your BIOS Setup utility.

In your BIOS Setup you will be going into Boot Options, and setting the first boot device to CDROM.

You also have to save changes, or it will be like you have done nothing at all.

The above is just the basics. Should you need to do this I will walk you through it step by step, and I have a lot of patience.

Cannot get windows xp back on to my computer.

Assuming the computer has a Microsoft XP product code tag on it (so you can be legit & legal), see if you can borrow an XP installation CD from a friend.

Sometimes the reinstall is set up on a separate partition on the hard disk, which of course, is totally useless if the hard drive has failed in a catastrophic way.

You could also contact Packard Bell (I thought this company was history), to see if replacement disk(s) are available. Have your computer's Model & Serial handy. The disks won't be free, but likely much less than a Walmart etc, supplied edition.

Hi

Sounds like you have 'autoplay' turned off, but it should be easy to get the CD installation program to run.

Double click on 'My Computer' and then probably your 'D' drive will be your CD or DVD drive. Double click on that and it will probably start automatically. If it doesn't start automatically it will open the CD folder, then look for a file called something like... 'setup.exe' or something like that. I don't have your CD so I don't know what it is called exactly sorry.

Hope this helps.

Packard bell tower pentium 2= CANT REINSTALL WINDOWSXP PRO

Hi Rob, unfortunatly there is no legal way to load Windows XP without your own disk. Microsoft only allow this to be loaded on one computer per disk and you can not use a friends disk as each computer has its own electronic signature. this is recorded when XP is activated and the disk key is recorded with that signature so it can not be used on more than the one computer.
