I have a problem with my computer(Packard Bell and Windows XP). Whenever I insert a disk into my DVD drive, it does not stay closed. Please help me to solve this problem. Many thanks in advance
One option is to disable autoplay on the drive. You could also uninstall the drive, restart Windows and let it reinstall the drivers. Update the drivers by opening "My computer", right clicking the drive, clicking "Properties", selecting the "Hardware" tab, clicking "Properties" again, select the "Driver" tab and select "Update Driver". Seems like a lot, but it isn't. In most cases it's not the OS, but the DVD drive itself. Luckily for you, the drives range from 50-80 dollars now. On top of that they can burn cd's and dvd's.
It sounds like the drive has a mechanical problem, take it to a local professional or just replace the drive, the drive costs 20usd as new, so you dont want to waste much time on it.
www.newegg.com sells them for 20 usd.
If your handy with a screw driver, you could take it apart and inspect it to see why the disc is being ejected.
