Question about Samsung Refrigerators

2 Answers

I have a french door refrigerator freezer from samsung (rf267aars) the freezer is not getting colder than 30F. the display says it is at -2F. I have changed the PCB board and have checked the Thermistors. the freezer room sensor says it is at 30F and this seems correct. The freezer Def sensor says it is at -2F. I am not sure about this one. My other thought was a bad thermo fuse. any ideas and why would the display show the incorrect temp?

It is clean down there. I have also removed the cover in the back of the inside of the freezer and checked for over icing in case the defroster was not working. It was not frosted over. there was a small amount of frost up on the top side but a very thin layer, not enough to cause problems. The unit is just out of waranty, of course.....

My samsung french door fridge is not getting cold enough in the freezer section. I have checked for excessive frost, dirty coils, I have changed the MCB board, I have checked the sensors. The sensor in the freezer compartment reads 30F and this is what I get with a Thermometer. It is set for -2F and the display reads that the temp is -2F. (display falsly reads -2F) My suspects are the freezer defrost sensor, freezer defrost thermal fuse. What else am I missing.

The thermal sensing bulb may have leak try replacing the bulb that's reading -2 and that should fix the problem, it gets two readings that goes to the board so the -2 will not allow the freezer to drop to that temperature because of the bulb. take a hair dryer and put it on the bulb and heat it up if the freezer comes on then that's where your problem is. If not the thermistor may be frozen look for it and see what the temp reading is on it. If you bought a temp sensor reading tool at a auto parts store it will help you to read the temperatures to help solve the problem, they cost 20 dollars and you can use itto probe the rest of the freezer to see if there is a blockage in the lines on the freezer between the bulbs causing it no to reach the-right temperature.

Hi there,

It seems that there is a problem in Condenser -
Self-defrosting refrigerators all have a set of coils and a cooling fan, usually under the refrigerator, that need to be cleaned regularly. If these coils get coated with dust, dirt or lint, the refrigerator may not cool properly. The coils may appear to be a thin, black, wide radiator-like device behind the lower kick-panel. To clean them, disconnect the refrigerator from the power source, use a refrigerator condenser brush (see the Appliance Accessories section) and your vacuum cleaner to clean the coils of any lint, pet hair, etc. You may not be able to get to all of the condenser from the front, it may be necessary to clean the remainder of the condenser from the rear of the refrigerator.

Good Luck!!

Thanks

The freezer is set at -4. How do I adjust it? Everything is freezing too much.

Hi Marisa:
Following is the instruction for adjusting the freeser temperature for your Samsung refrigerator:
You press the freezer temperature button repeatedly till you see your desired temperature. If you want to set it to -2F, stop when the display shows -2F and don't press the freezer button again. After 5 seconds this new temperature will be set.

The instructions from the Samsung manual is shown below:
Controlling the Freezer temperature:
The Freezer temperature can be set between 8°F and -14°F to suit your particular needs. Press the Freezer button repeatedly until the desired temperature is shown in the temperature display. Keep in mind that foods like ice cream may melt at 4°F. The temperature display will move sequentially from -14°F to 8°F. When the display reaches 8°F, it will begin again at -14°F. Five seconds after the new temperature is set, the display will again show the actual current freezer temperature. However, this value will be changed to the new temperature.

How can I get colder temperature in new Samsung french door refrigerator.

There are numerous causes. If it is as new as you say, it should still be under warranty. Contact the company you bought it from and have them schedule an appliance service company to come out and take a look at it. Make sure you have a copy of your receipt to provide to the service technician when he/she comes out.

Samsung french door freezer gets lots of frost inside - we've replaced the gasket but still get frost

Could be the rail slides not closeing correctly keeping door open slightly. Also they have made a new stronger set of rails to be used. Try going to the Samsung web site for tech info our recalls for that unit

About the only way is for the freezer to be colder so it will freeze quicker. There is sensor which tells it when the water is frozen.

Samsung rf267aars icemaker stops making ice, icemaker makes clicking noise.

unfortunately it sounds like you have a broken tooth on the drive or driven gear of the ice maker, in this case you should replace the ice maker. The good news is that you can get a new one for about 85 bucks at your local appliance parts store.

Two issues

Well here is How I fixed My French Door Ice Maker, It made the same loud crashing sounds, and seldom put out much ice. To the point that it made no ice at all.

First, Make sure you can get water out of the front, if not, your water lines may be clogged.

The second thing you can do is hit the secret RESET button on the upper front side of the ice maker. See my first image for it's location, it is a soft rubber button.

The third thing.. In my case the reset button worked for a little bit. But eventually stopped. I had to remove the ice maker, and found that that several rows of ice had gotten stuck. The swinging arm that smacks the ice out would just strip the gears banging that ice to no avail. So opening the ice maker up and cleaning it out helped. I also cleaned the sensor contact with some alcohol. It is a thin metal strip close to where the gearing housing is. This I believe is ultimately where the problem starts. It allows the trays to get overfilled, and the ice can't be released. Once I cleaned out the tray of stuck ice, cleaned the sensor, plugged it back in, and hit the reset button once more, It was making loads of ice once again. If this fails, you can get a complete new ice maker online, I found a vendor on eBay selling it for a reasonable $80. You can use my pictures to see how to disassemble for repair ore replacement. My fridge by the way is the RF267AARS.

the part number is: DA97-05554A

It works with the following refrigerators
